Noah working

Love it, and love the emphasis on player development and retention. Its a new era, any program that wants to win is going to have to do it this way. You cant just cast aside your lesser touted players like some other schools might.

The goal should be that when our players graduate/leave/go to the NBA, that they have nothing but high praise for Mark Pope and the program for future recruits and transfers.

To be fair, almost every player through here under Calipari loved him. There were outliers. Reed even supported him wearing a pig shirt.
That goal has been being met for a while.

I posted in another thread but it bears repeating: noah is so far ahead of Perry they really aren't in the same conversation.

Perry needs a big jump this off-season. Otherwise im not sure he will finish his career here.
I think it boils down to physical talents between them. Noah has the size needed to make an impact. Unfortunately Perry can’t get Taller or exceptionally faster in a year and maybe not ever. That’s not to say he can’t get a good enough handle and shooting out there to make an impact, just the odds are lower than with Noah IMHO. I like them both and can’t wait to see how they progress though.

Way too reasonable of a response.

I also felt Noah seemed a little tougher and not scared of the moment.

Maybe I’m wrong but agree that I feel better about Noah than Perry
Being that small probably affects his confidence. He looks confident shooting when he is open. There is a reason Sears was the biggest flopper since any Duke player. He was undersized too. He learned to use deception to help him succeed.

We've reached the point of the offseason where we congratulate and make a spectacle on working out aka doing the job they are paid to do. This is the real world. When you sign on to be an employee, there are expectations and it's up to the employee to meet them. Trent Noah is a good player. He's going to be a good player at Kentucky or elsewhere, but this is what the overwhelming majority of athletes do in the offseason. Doesn't matter if it's April or May or June, etc....

Maybe Pilgrim is truly unaware that even mediocre HS players work hard in the offseason, so he shouldn't be surprised that a D1 Power Conference athlete is working hard and if he is, that's on him.

He’s a winner. Helped greatly this year and will be a major contributor in the years to come.

Yeah I assumed most athletes are working out around this time .

And they can’t have any cream cheese on their after practice bagels.

Are you saying that b/c you know that used to be a violation?

For any who don't realize it... I'm absolutely serious. It's crazy to think that depending on when it was given to athletes, cream cheese used to be considered a violation as "excess", but now college players are straight up paid millions of dollars...

I completely agree. I know many high school players boys and girls that train hard everyday day, some of them ( or their family )even pay money to train skills with coaches just so they have a chance to get a scholarship at d1 school and many end up at d2.

Getting a scholarship at d1 is a big thing that many HS don’t get. Getting a scholarship at p5 is an extremely impressive because you are unlocking your future -these schools usually offer many perks , good education and facilities and you are treated like King or Queen . On top of that if you are at P5 you are getting paid. And when you get a scholarship at a school like Kentucky , Kansas, Duke, UnC you are going to be set for life if you play your card right.

And on top of that if you are born in Kentucky and get the honor to play for the wildcats, I am sorry you are expected to work your butt off because you are not only representing you and your family that invested time and money in you for taking to all practices and tournaments and paying for all training sessions and AAU travel and tournaments but you also represent all the boys in Kentucky that just dream to wear that jersey that you wearing everyday.

So that been said, I am glad Noah is back and he is working at his skills. That’s part of the game!

Seemed like a weird thing to celebrate and certainly not any shade at Noah as he's just doing what he should be doing and didn't ask for publicity for it.

I will say that media has a more difficult job in the offseason seeing that HS recruiting is about as worthless as it's ever been right now. Fans don't care as much about any HS player unless it's some top 5 guy. That one kid took an OV to Kentucky this week (Hawthorne) and there was less interest in that visit than any recruit I can remember since being a member of this site.

Have you heard anything further on Hawthorne? His presentation video was very pumped up , I was expecting that he would sign right the way, unless he is using Kentucky up to increase his price tag.

I stumbled over this just looking at Ugonna post. This reminded me how are our defense rotation look at times…. And not to be negative here but Noah needs some session on how to shuffle his feet , how to close out and when to open and not open his hips and turn his back ……after he gets destroyed by JR and forces rotation and mismatches ( I am hoping that s that drill was about ) the way he closes on the big (if they would passed inside ), Amari would have had an easy catch and Dunk.

Regardless, of what the drill was, I hope Kentucky is having a plan individualized by each player on what they have to work on over the summer and perhaps either bring or send the players to specialist training for the areas they need to improve. For Noah: feet and hips quickness, flexibility , lateral sliding , ball handling , and overall get more explosive and in shape so he can play at high intensity more minutes…
