no Willis still win by 20

U L I S . that's why we win. Its always Ulis. Doesn't matter if uk doesnt have Willis, poythress, skal,......we still win if we got ULIS. 59-7 as a player at Kentucky.

Good to get Alex back, and glad to see him play well. But I did think the offense was sluggish for the first 25 minutes or so. Without Willis, things kind of slow down, and spacing is not great.

If we can get everyone healthy by tournament time, could be another fun March run in the NCAA.

Cal rode these kids like a bucking bronco. And yet they all love him like a Dad. He's the master.

Still need that 3rd outside threat although Hump can pull the D out to 15'. Excellent picks set there for Ulis & Hump has to be respected from 12/15'.

I still think briscoes inability to shoot from the perimeter is going to cost this team. I'd lay off him by 5 feet daring him to shoot every time down the court. Can't believe some players still guard him as close as they do allowing him to drive.

Yep he plays way too many minutes. Even in close games. Cal is confusing.

So what he gives those points right back because of his bricks. 40% FT shooter should not play after the 5:00 mark in a close game.
I agree he should give those shots to our other guards. But he should still be in close game situations.

So the other team can foul him and send him to the line aka hack a shaq ( Kansas game comes to mind )

Or you mean so his defender can sag off to help defend on Murray or Ulis? Yea.... He defiantly should be in close game situations.[eyeroll]

Who would you rather see instead of Briscoe?

Somebody that can play decent defense and shoot better than shaq at the FT line. Hawkins would be my first choice.

I like Briscoe, I always have. But watching him shoot is brutal. It is embarrassing to have a 6'3 guard shot 15% from 3. And 40% FT. I don't care how good he plays defense.

Good luck. Cal will never sit Briscoe for Hawkins.

Oh I know... No matter what he says about shooting FTs at the end of games.

He is going to play Briscoe come hell or high water.

Cal isn't stupid. He plays Briscoe because he is a dynamic player that absolutely deserves to be on the court. He is the toughest kid on the team. Nobody defends and rebounds like Isaiah. If there is a loose ball late in the game, I want Briscoe on the floor to come up with it.

Try enjoying the positives that Isaiah brings to the team rather than dwelling on his shortcomings!

Stonewall has a point.

Briscoe has the potential to be a major liability late in a close tournament game.

It is a valid point.

I was glad to see him hit a jumper and go 2/3 from the line tonight.

It is not too much to expect a guard to be AT LEAST:

60% from the line
30% from 3

These are numbers for a poor shooting college guard.

He is currently 1/2 as good a shooter as a poor one.

Of the top 100 players in the SEC Briscoe is dead last in 3pt shooting.

Only 2 other players hit below 20%, and even they hit 68 and 76% of their free throws.

If we were to get healthy and Briscoe could shoot just a "below average" on FTs and 3's there is no telling what this team could do.

It is truly mind boggling how badly Briscoe has shot this year. I really like the kid but good lord. I'm sure Cal has told him to shoot open shots in hopes of his raising his confidence. And that's fine for now. But once in the tournament, he's gotta stop.

I do think his other qualities merit him getting a lot of minutes. He's arguably our best defender and often our best rebounder. He's also a great finisher around the rim.

And honestly his 3-point shooting doesn't bother me as much. He can stop shooting those whenever he wants. But the free throws could end up losing us our last game. At the end of a close game, if he's still in, there'll be a lump in my gut every time he touches it.
