Absolutely amazing. What a start Pope has these Cats off to beating the best of them early on with his first team.
I'm curious where we will be ranked. I'm guessing we stay in the top 10.
You KNOW Cal is pissed about it. He was truly hoping that leaving the cupboard bare would set the program back.
Even the loss to Clemson wasn’t a bad loss so to speak. Clemson is a team that if we played them 10 times, we win 6-7 of those games.
Agreed. And the good news is, the team has dealt with road environments now. I'll take 1-1 this week. I was actually expecting it, but just thought the win would come at Clemson instead of in Seattle. But I'll take it.
Will be nice to play a top 7 team at Rupp one day!
My heart was lodged in my throat the whole OT. I knew Gonzaga would hit big shots and this team hung on with the odds against them.

We won a technically neutral court game against another top 10 team and I don't think the true road game loss looks that bad, I would think we stay the same or maybe just drop one. Every team but Tenn. above us lost too and most below us except marquette I think.
Edit - 5th ranked Marquette lost to 6th ranked Iowa St.

That Clemson loss won't look too bad come March. Wait and see.
Man I don’t even think we should drop. Gonzaga was rolling as good as I’ve seen any team this year and we pulled that off. Two wins against teams that will be making deep runs most likely. We are a top 5 team by look and resume

I've said since the season started, Gonzaga is the best team in the country. Gonzaga just lost to the best team in the country.
A switch flipped in the 2nd half. We figure something out. We turned a corner. Our 2nd half offense was like watching a broadway play. Everything was expertly planned down to the millesecond.
Come March, Gonzaga will be a 1 seed. Duke will be a 1 seed. Kentucky will have neutral court wins over both.
Did I mention we didn't have our starting PG? Did I mention our backup PG left with an injury and missed the entire OT and a significant portion of the 2nd half?

I think many probably were, but in all honestly, it probably helps the Cats MORE with the 1-1 record this way b/c that win against the Zags will help more.
This worked out much better than beating Clemson and losing to the Zags.
The voters love Gonzaga. They may well chalk up first game on the road to well, first game on the road, new coach, entirely new team. I think we stay top 5, maybe even hold at #4.

The team that went 3 for 24 through regulation went 3-3 to stay in the game. Tough to overcome that but here we are.

IA ST beat Marquette this week. IA ST will prolly jump us but I think we stay at 4-5 too

The most important thing I think to take away from this game is that this team has the maturity, talent, strength, determination, intelligence, and will to win - they have the heart to win against anyone if they play hard enough, together. Seeing this team, having to play the game without Butler at all .... I am thoroughly impressed.
Title contenders, for sure. They play with the heart and pride it takes to DESERVE to wear the Kentucky uniform, in my eyes.

I think we should stay in the top 5. Lose @Clemson in a game where we were underdogs, then win a neutral game that was practically an away game to a top 10 team where we were even bigger underdogs. And with all the other losses that happened this week? I think:
1. Tennessee
2. Auburn
3. Iowa St
4/5 Kentucky and Kansas
6. Duke
Clemson shouldn't hurt us too bad. They won their first conference game by 10 on the road at Miami today. I expect Clemson to be ranked between 20-25 come Monday.
I think we might drop to 6 or 7. This win was huge!
