No special teams coach ?

TJ or anyone know how the special teams are coming along? Not sure if this is the best idea when game day rolls around. There is such a small margin of era for the CATS, I'd hate to see us get penalties for not enough men on the field or have other issues that cost us points. Also saw a state with no kickoff return or punt for a TD since 2010? Can we get one this year?????

no coordinator, but there are coaches who have the specific responsibilities to make sure the proper number of players are on the field for a special teams play. it certainly is unconventional from most schools, but plenty do the same with divided responsibilities spread among their staff. definitely interested to seeing how the special teams perform, ought to be better with our higher talent & experience level (as we are expecting with offense & defense).

I was extremely frustrated with ST last year, most all of us were. And I blamed Naivar. Most all of us did. The man at the top takes the blame, kinda the way of the world. He didn't cost us two games. Bade special teams did. And like Stoops said when he dressed down Harmon for refusing to stay in his lane, it made Naivar look bad, it could have (might have?) cost him his job, and it wasn't fair. You can coach em up, teach em right, and if one guy decides to go and "make a play" and gives up his lane, the entire unit looks terrible and you want the coach fired when it doesn't work out.

Think about Boom reversing field against Florida. Wrong play. Dumb play. Not sound football. But it's what his instincts told him to do and he's so explosive he managed to reverse, get to the other sideline and turn up field instead of getting his for a 10 yard loss. We were all excited cause he made the play. Harmon's instincts repeatedly took over too, drove him to leave his lane and look to put a hit on someone, but it didn't work for him like it did for Boom. Doesn't mean Naivar did something wrong cause it turned out that way, doesn't mean coach Scott is a genius because Boom pulled a miracle out of his ass.

Where do I start. There is no flag thrown fo not enough players on the field. The penalty is you likely give up a big gainer or TD because you are short handed. There would be a penalty flag for too many players on the field.

UK special teams are being coached there is just a division of responsibility and I bet Stoops will coordinate them.
