Are U6 faithful able/willing to make Jeff Brohm the highest paid coach in Kenticky? I'm gonna say yes, but will Brohm take the job?

Their AD said they couldn’t pay top dollar due to money concerns in the dept. Brohm’s getting 6 mil now and he indicated they couldn’t match it. He’s hoping money isn’t an issue.
They're 3/4 people in this town that could make it happen easily if need be.

He will be the Coach making 7 million
AD said they couldn’t go 8,9 or 10
Purdue can offer 9 million
I still think he comes back home

Thankfully, beer sales at the Yum have not dropped significantly. Far less people drinking far more during the games.

Heard this during the press conference as well. Their ad actually said they cannot pay $8, 9, 10M dollars a year but they will be able to get their man. The fact is, if Brohm is going to come to Louisville it will be because he wants to coach in Louisville. Purdue will be able to outbid them now and in the future.

As I stated in another thread, the money on the horizon for the SEC and the Big Ten will increase their budget exponentially for head coaches versus all the other leagues. So I'm not sure why in the long term a coach would want to voluntarily step away from those two leagues. But five or six million dollars/yr may not be a bad deal for someone, especially if they get to move back to their hometown with their family.

Easier to win in ACC than the big 2 conferences. Clemson def on a downward slide. Fl St still a long way from what it was, Miami even more. Rest of the ACC are schools no better than UL.

With new 12 team CFB playoff ACC champ virtually guaranteed a slot. Won't do anything with it, esp against an SEC or Big 10 opponent.

Right but at some point the better teams are going to get poached and it is going to be the B10 vs the SEC in a majority of those slots. While Florida State and Clemson, along with a few others, have a chance to get in the big two, Louisville does not. They will be relegated back to Conference USA status.

I feel like that's why Adidas is sinking so much money into buying them recruits. To up their appeal when the next rounds of conference realignments happen.

AD is just posturing for deep pockets to go big! It'll happen if that's what it takes.

UL stabbed Papa John in the back and Owlesy Brown Fraiser is dead. Those were the two biggest athletic donors of the Jurich era. There are still others but losing your top two donors has to hurt.

He's 51 and will have a monumental task ahead of him where he's established at Purdue . Seriously doubt he's taking a rebuild for same level money.

$9 million for 8-4? I’m not saying you’re wrong but damn. This crap is completely out of control.

I'm sure he'll get a raise as he's making like $5.5M per year. The point I'm making is that at Purdue he could end up with Stoops level money - at Louisville, they cannot afford that.

Money isn't everything when you're making multi-millions a year but to your point, the rebuild of that program and the inherent risks of the ACC falling aside, would be top of mind for me if I were going in there. I would hate to voluntarily knock myself out of market value because my institution just couldn't pay it.

Fortunately, the ACC is a pretty weak football conference overall... so all they have to do is beat Clemson LOL... and he can win 8-10 there each year. I do think it hurts UK, especially in recruiting.

I don't get their fascination with him. He is 36-34 at Purdue. The only big success he's had was at WKU and lots of guys are good coaches in those leagues only to fail when they step up to a power 5 school.
Eh Stoops was still under .500 through six years. Don’t get me wrong I’d rather have Stoops, but sometimes it takes a while when you take over a program in a tough spot so overall record isn’t the best measure.

As things stand now ACC is under contract with all their media rights included until 2035. Their lawyers are trying to find an out, but so far nothing. So as I understand it, if they leave the ACC for one of the big 2, all their monies from TV would go directly to the ACC.

Not to mention Jim Patterson. And Jonathon Blue is the richest mother in the state!
There are a bunch, most of them people don't even know about. The question becomes, to what level are they interested in UL success. I don't think money will be an issue regardless of what the AD says, Adidas has always been willing to help. UL has money issues but they will have enough money to hire the next coach. It's too much of a cash cow to try and go cheap.

What are you talking about dude? UL was a winning team i think in all 4 of Satts years. Ain't that far for them to become a top ACC team, that's how sad of a conference it is.

Are you mixing up UL football record with their current basketball w/l, lol?

Shhhhh, nobody tell him the term of Stoops new contract!!!!!
