No more 9PM games!!

I remember back in the Pitino days when Rick complained to ESPN about too many 9 o'clock games. Can't remember if anything came of it though.

RMK complained years ago when it first started. That is one of the few things I agree with him on.

Love Hell Bent for Leather/Killing Machine. One of their best, been meaning to complement you :)

I have never understood why since the majority of schools in the SEC are in the central time zone, why, when there are two SEC games on the same night, why in the world they don't allow a game in the eastern time zone to be in the 7:00 PM slot and the central time game to be in the late slot. I would think that UK, UT, UF, UG, and USC could get that addressed. 9:00 PM eastern is terrible but it is not as bad as it used to be years ago when it was 9:30 PM.

Made me smile though a couple of weeks ago when we played Missouri at 9. The play by play guy who obviously had never been to a game a Rupp, in amazement made the statement about it was incredible that on a week night against a less than stellar opponent, that there were 23,000 fans packed into Rupp. Veteran color guy and former UK assistant Joe Dean, Jr. chuckled and said, if this game tipped at midnight, all of them would be here!

TV controls it completely. Teams play at 9 because ESPN says so.

I don't mind the 9 PM games but probably because they are 8 PM here in Bowling Green.

What always irked me is when 2 teams in the CST would play in the 7 game, while UK (EST) would get the 9 pm game

I keep telling my wife that we need to move to either the mountain or pacific time zones when I retire so that basketball games with 9pm eastern tips will end before my bedtime!

That's not even the best part.

During the nfl season, games start at 10am and it goes all day, until it's time to sleep for work Monday. And i can open a beer as soon as the first game kicks off without the woman womaning at me for it.

I'm not in California, but i love me some 6pm Pacific start time.
I know right. Actually can make it home. Enjoy the game. Everyone in my office knows I'm a die hard and not to schedule anything with me during a UK game. I lock my office door and you can only come in if you're wearing blue. But I catch some heat when I'm locking my door at 4pm on a Thursday. Lol.

I prefer the 8 PM games being in the Central time zone. I barely have time to get home from work with the 6 PM tip. With the 8 PM game, I can get home, get things done before watching the game.

Children please!! Us older folk grew up watching UK on tape delay. Game wouldn'the come on til 11:30. And even if you knew the outcome, you still watched it.

How cold is the toilet water?

I grew up listening to wson 860 am radio and caywood. Then pretending like I was asleep long enough to wait out my mom so I could catch the tape delay at 11.

Didn't UK recently play some NCAA tournament games that were closer to 10:00? I'll watch the games no matter the time without complaints.

I work noon to ???? most weekdays, so I prefer the 9 p.m. tips. Sometimes I can make it home by early second half if the day went well.

I also did a lot of tape delay watching with my dad as a kid. I had to take naps on game days. Lol.

Side question: When did EVERY game of a season become available via live TV broadcast?

Yeah the old tape delay UK Network games were rough. I would try to not see the score so the 11:30 game wouldn't be ruined. Even though I wouldn't know the outcome, it still lost some of the excitement for me for some reason knowing the game wasn't live. Similar to when I record a game to watch when I get home from somewhere. Never as good as watching it live and the temptation to peek at the score is strong.

I do hate the 9 pm games for two reasons. One is the inevitable 7 pm game running long and it ruins the recording with the game starting on another station. The second is having to stay up until at least 11 on nights I have to get up at 4 am. I always said the Eastern time zone games should be earlier so the fans can get to bed at a reasonable time. Let the Central time zone be for the late games. That way it is only an 8 pm start instead of 9.
