Goes back to Ray Mears years,Rupp had a hell of time beating him in Knoxville.It didn't matter if the Vols were very good or not Mears had his number to some degree.He played a Dean Smith Stall before Smith did it,Ernie and Bernie didn't help matters any.Tom Boerwinkle (sp?) and Kevin Nash did their part also.

So embarrassing. I only say that because we can't even come close to saying we've beaten them more times that anyone else in football....

Yep. I'm not sure some younger fans realize that UT has beaten us more often than any other program. By a large margin. That's why I always have, and will consider them a rival despite more recent results. I'm confident in a win tonight. A double digit one, but in Knoxville there's always a little doubt.

As long as they don't have a guy named Stokes who has only practiced three or four times and wears size 22 sneakers, and the game isn't announced by Jimmy Dykes who is aware of both of those facts, the Cats should be fine.

Now that would be a stretch if he knew how to do it.

BEATING KENTUCKY!... and then collapsing has been the entire history of Tennessee basketball. It's the raison d'etre for the program. Yes, they've beaten UK more than anyone. Here are some other numbers:

NCAA tournament record: 19-21
Sweet 16 appearances: 7
Elite 8 appearances: 1
Final Fours: 0

The program has mostly been a piece of crap punctuated by a few good seasons here and there in which they- almost without exception- failed miserably in March. And, of course, BEAT KENTUCKY.

I remember one of the games when Mears used a stall with a guard named Snow that just killed UK that night.

UT has also played UK a ton...so by the law of averages they are gonna have more wins than anyone else most likely.
