No excuse for any SEC team to start a qb. this bad.

On paper, it was hard to get excited about an NC St QB coming into the SEC.

Penn St I can see.

Stoops comfort level is in defense and ball control.

I’d honestly put Robinson, Brown or Key behind center in shotgun (whichever one can catch a snap) and only pass maybe twice a game. Just use them and Davis.

Stoops would be happy and we may win like we did with Bowden.

Guarantee Leary wish he would have stayed at NC St
Oline is worst in country pass blocking
Receivers are horrible
Bad situation

Yeah, portal isn't a cure all.

Leary had a nice career at NC ST, why he transferred is beyond me. What our staff saw in him over all the other QBs in the portal is a head scratcher.

I would seriously consider giving Sheron the nod with 2 weeks before Tennessee. Let's see what he is or isn't and if he is something it would be great for next season to have him with a half season plus bowl reps. If he isn't much, then the staff will know and it's better to find that out now.

I mean we're not playing for anything at this point, and we'll get to a bowl regardless of who's playing QB.

On one play in first half I looked at our offense line up and Mouzou defense . I told my wife and folks around me one of their players has no one to block him. Sure enough he had a straight shot to Leary and sacked him.
If even I could spot that why can’t the UK coaches and call timeout .

You really think Sherron is better than Beau Allen?
Allen transferred to Tarrelton St then Ga Southern.
If Sherron hits the portal he will have zero P5 interest and probably no MAC, MVC etc.
None of our QB's are good at all.
Look at Deuce, Iowa transfer and 4* recruit running fourth string.
I have no idea why he even wants to play other than he wants to be a coach.

He’s not nearly as bad as the group he is throwing too. By a rough estimate there were about 100 yards worth of drops, and another 50 of yards called back for penalties. What should have been a coming out party for Anthony brown resulted in a disastrous performance. He should have been 4 catches for about 75 yards and a TD turned into 3 drops and TD that he you guessed it almost dropped.

35td vs 5 int was nothing to get excited about but a backup used almost exclusively as a battering ram was? You must just be a fan of fancy labels.
maybe, but I'll take a player from a perennial powerhouse over a mid tier school every time.

You would take Alabama's worst player over UK's best player? We are talking about a backup used almost exclusively in Wildcat vs. a guy who preseason pick for ACC player of the year pre-injury.

Just to take a different look at it. What if our WR's didn't drop balls? What if our OL did not allow sacks and was consistent in opening holes for Davis? What if we had a short passing game like a MO? How much different would we look at Leary if the people in charge of those areas was getting done?

As far as Mertz, he showed at SC how he struggles passing the ball deep. His coach has built their offense with mostly short passes, much like MO. So if Mertz was here would Coen mostly incorporate the short passing game? Should Coen help Leary out some and start incorporating a lot of the short passing game like FL and MO does? Since we struggle at times pass blocking and catching deep balls, let's get the TE's involved more and the passes in the flat to let our receivers try and make a play.
