reports on twitter he is not on roster given out today? late summer academic casualty?

Don't know the reason - but yeah, not on roster.

He stuck out to me on the previous roster release, showing that he was still only at 280lbs...thought that was weird then.

Stoops just stated that he is no longer with the team. No reason given. Also stated that Therell and Jovan won't make it.

That's disappointing losing a 4 star OL. Thought him and Krok would see a lot of time here but they never played a snap.

maybe saw that he had already been recruited over & would not play in front of GEORGE ASAFO-ADJEI

Could've been a good back up this year and potential starter next. Sometimes it seems it's just impossible for UK to build depth.

Really hate hearing about Richardson. Don't know if fans ever find out "the real story" behind these things but for me the big tell will be where he ends up. If it's someplace out of the BIG 5 conferences you got think that the kid felt he was being recruited over. Regardless, I wish the best for him and appreciate him signing in the first place.

Any word on Livingston?

Sounds like there is still a chance Livingston could get eligible maybe

Did you mean to say Levon (sp?) Livingston instead of Jovan? It's a shame these guys won't make it.

Surprised that Richardson would leave the team - unless there were underlying academic/personal reasons, perhaps he realized he would be deep on the depth chart. Good luck to him whatever he decides to do.

No but I did misspell it. I was speaking about Javon Provitt. We already knew this but Stoops confirmed it during the press conference.

We are really screwed if Livingston doesn't make it. We will have next to no depth at OT with Krok and Richardson leaving.

Krok and now Richardson. What this could do is force UK to play someone who needs a RS year much earlier than expected. A rash of injuries to the OL would be a serious setback.

What does these three not being here do for the 2016 class? Does this free up extra scholarships for that class? Also, where will this put us with the 85 scholarship limit? Was this needed attrition to get there or open up some scholarships for others?

I don't think Richardson would see much time unless we have injury but since that can always occur, it sure is nice to have depth.

No it won't. He likely wasn't going to see the field this year anyway. It sucks but its hardly a reason to jump off a cliff.

Again, it's not so much about this year as next and beyond. For instance, should UK have injuries to the OL this year it could force someone like Stenberg to the field before he's ready or Fortner next year. Maybe all of that won't happen, let's hope not.

I think people are just looking at his Rivals star ranking (not his 3 star ranking from everyone else.) If we had to play that kid this year it would have been a disaster. RS Freshman at 285 pounds which is exactly what he came in weighing, that got beat out by a true freshman coming into spring practice is not someone that you want on that field this year. Take another look at his highlight film, and compare that to George Asafo-Adjei or Krok or Willis'...

Good luck to him, if it is homesickness or the coaches gave him a visual of where he stood on the team, I hope he succeeds, actually puts on weight and becomes an NFL player someday.

I was mainly saying that we've got to build 3-deep depth to compete in the SEC and if we're losing two O-Lineman , that hurts, even if he wasn't starting....

You gotta deal with it and move on obviously.

I do not know much about this kid but it seems he was way down on the depth chart. Could this be a case of addition by subtraction. It doesn't seem that the kid was all in with the strength and conditioning program with his lack of weight gain while at UK.

I hate to lose players but maybe this opens a slot for a better player.

Thank you for saving me the time of writing something very similar.

The only thing that seems certain with Richardson is that his reasoning was not academic. My initial thought was that Stoops was just trimming the fat and trying to push some guys out to make room for new guys, but with everybody saying how thin UK is at OL it makes me think he might have just been unhappy with his situation and wanted to make a fresh start somewhere else similar to Josh Krok.

We had one decide today, after the first day in pads, to leave the program. A rising soph ILB who according to reports has been passed by 3 incoming frosh and the kid from UAB who transferred in when they shut their program down. Looking at being number 6 at ILB behind 2 jr a sr and 3 frosh. Don't blame him if he wants to play, am hoping he transfers to Kennesaw State who just started their program up or Valdosta. Good kid, just got passed by and wants to play.

I agree. Richardson had been passed by several players including GAA. What little evidence we have suggests Richardson did not work as hard as some other linemen over the offseason. That won't get it on this team, where competition determines roles. We already have 22 commitments in our 2016 recruiting class which means, even with Gossier and Provitt not here, at least 4 underclassmen still had to go. And as more commitments are taken, that number will only increase further. So some players were expected to leave, or else Stoops would not be accepting so many new commitments. The problem is, our offensive line is the most talent challenged and depth challenged area on our team now. You can't win in our league without a big, deep, good offensive line. The starting unit is pretty much set, and Richardson wasn't going to play much. But with Richardson and Krok gone, we are totally dependent now on Leavitt, GAA, and Meadows at the 2 offensive tackle positions in 2016. Young and Stenberg won't be ready for several years, and it looks like Livingston might not even make it at all. Injuries and other unexpected developments can happen. Offensive tackle is proving to be the toughest position on the field for Stoops to fill. There are still a couple of interesting, uncommitted juco offensive tackles, including Demetri Moore. I hope Coach Brumbaugh is all over him.

we are thin at tackle but we are loaded at guard and center. gaa will end up at guard once we get tackle settled too. he has been moved inside and with marcelys coming in and drake and fortner... he wasn't gonna play after this year. krok hurt leaving us but unfortunately i dont think richardson was gonna help.

"Push some guys out"...you're confused. Richardson was at UK not UT.

I believe one of the coaches said that he had family problems which could be a multitude of things.

Demetri Moore is an uncommitted offensive tackle at Mississippi Delta CC with a Kentucky offer. Malcolm Pridgeon, an offensive tackle at Nassau CC, also has a Kentucky offer. It looks like Kentucky's main competition for Moore is the 2 Mississippi schools. Pridgeon has offers from Ohio State and 4 SEC schools. With Krok and Richardson gone, Livingston probably gone, Swindle being a senior, I hope Stoops pushes hard for both jucos. Getting Tate Leavitt is the most important part of the solution. But even with Leavitt, we will be very thin at both offensive tackles in 2016. Meadows looks like a good young player, but competition makes players better. GAA is competing at tackle, but he is a natural guard. If Leavitt or Meadows gets hurt, we would be in trouble. We could really use Pridgeon or Moore.

Again, it was mentioned that Richardson has some family ill back home and if that is true could explain what happened.

I have heard that Stoops and Co will tell players if they should go else where to get playing time or even hang it up, but that is left up to the players. Have not heard of a player being forced out, or rides pulled, like other programs do.

Richardson had some pretty solid offers including Michigan State and Ole Miss. He is/was a good prospect, maybe a couple of years away as it turned out. He wasn't exactly chopped liver.
