NFL slow expansion abroad.....

The NFL has to figure out what they are going to do with Los Angeles first...you have 3 Teams in a Race for that market in the Rams, Chargers and Raiders-(while the Chargers and Raiders using the LA threat to use against the city of Oakland/San Diego...the Rams already has a foot out the door).

Evidently they will have a team IMO within 15 years in London and Berlin.

Can you imagine the cost of flying a team from Europe 8 times per year and possibly more if they ever make the playoffs? NFL has more money than Money Mayweather has domestic charges, but dang....that will be some cash.

^It would likely be a friendlier match up than the Berlin Blitz vs the Polska Kielbasa.

And can you imagine the Berlin Blitz or the Paris Cuisinarts trying to head to Moscow for a competition in the middle on winter? They'd never get out alive.

They would be better off creating an European division and then having the winner face off against an American division winner in the playoffs. They would need 9 teams though so each team could play the other teams twice. Could they find places where 9 teams could be successful?

I think it would be cool to actually make it a global league. Then they could really say the winner is world champions.

To me this is nothing more than a dog and pony show to sell more merchandise. there is no way the National Football League is going to Europe on a permanent basis maybe Canada but no way Europe. The cost to have a team there would not be worse the NFL investment. however if the NFL could have two games there a year to dis play American football and sell merchandise and get the Europeans excited about American football then it would be worth their time. at this point I don't see the NFL making this jump.

I attended the Vikings-Steelers game at Wembley Stadium 2 years ago. People in Europe are very hungry for the NFL. It will happen in some way, just a matter of time.

You only have to see the slow, but rising popularity of soccer in the U.S. The NFL will see international expansion in Europe and potentially Mexico.

How much demand for football is there is Europe(Britain, to be specific)as opposed to soccer demand in the U.S.? You don't see the Premier League playing regular season games here and I doubt if there's any interest on that league's part in expanding into America.

^There are many who would want a soccer league to expand to America. 2 problems though:
1. We already have a league here that's gaining steam fast......The MLS. Fanbases are soaring with every passing yr. So, with a league in place, why would the EPL want to expand here?

2. America in general is not a fan of promotion/relegation.....which is something that the EPL prides itself on. If you are an American who just purchased and expanded a EPL team in New York.......spending millions upon millions upon millions.......now they are telling you that b/c your team didn't perform that you have to be relegated.

Many are in favor of promotion/relegation......Klinsmann for one.
