I was at Meijer today and they had Bengal championship shirts but the shirts said 2021 AFC Champions. Shouldn’t they be the 2022 champions or does the NFL do their calendar weirdly?

2021 regular season. Just like UGA is national champions for 2021 even though the game was played in 2022.

BTW, one week straight I’ve had to double check to make sure the Bengals were really in a Super Bowl. I’m still shocked. Will never forget this. Hopefully I live to see it again.

But UK is considered the 2012 national champions even though it was the 2011/2012 season. Also it is called the 2022 Super Bowl. Does that mean the Bengals are the 2021 AFC Champions but the 2022 Super Bowl champions (if they win). None of this makes sense to me. 2021 just seem/sounds wrong.

Also according to their own website, UGA won the 2022 CFP but are the 2021 National Champions. That’s unbelievably dumb.
