The Strength- The UK Defensive back field is full of young talent, actually it's busting at the seams. Freshmen become Sophmores, but Freshmen who actually played become play makers and there are a ton of them. Westry will be the star, he was at times this year. Great cover corner with a 6-4 frame to boast. Baity worked and waited his turn and had a pretty solid performance. Harmon will back these guys up and made 2 great plays to build on with the INT's against Florida and Louisville in key moments. The safety position is loaded 4 guys who will wreck havoc are Edwards, West, Walker, and McWilson. Pass Coverage skills with Run support at a premium. Notable to mention Blake McClain and Randolph along with incoming freshmen Cash Gilliam. This should be a potential top defensive backfield in the coming years.

The Force at the POA- This will be the most talented bunch of Linebackers ever at Kentucky. Your 4 starters may not have the highest ceiling, but the floor will be solid. Hatcher, Love, Laster and Ware. Maybe Jordan Jones, but he would have probably redshirted if Love was eligible. Laster was said to be unblockable? (But I know our O-line was not SEC Caliber too. This is going to be a nasty group of LB's, guys, they will actually have strength and speed, and not one guy is a converted WR, Fullback, DB. All 4 star guys in one service or another and should be strong enough to let incoming guys like Kash redshirt.

The Defensive Line- Elam, Meant, Miggins, Dubose, Middleton. These guys have all had snaps in a game with Elam and Meant being starters at some point. What does the DC want the line to do? Eat up blockers, pass rush, or both? 3-4's are meant to allow the LB's and or Rush Ends to make plays. We saw Lewis take on blockers and also make plays in the back field along with CJ. FH did his job and did it well. Who's going to replace that production,? Elam, Meant and either Miggins or Daniels need to produce. Don't sleep on Kengera, Kid has stud written all over him. Matt Elam needs to do himself a favor, He needs to get to 320/340 and be in the best shape he has ever been in. He opens the defense up for everyone else when it takes 2 maybe 3 guys to block you. He needs to find his nasty, I think he is just to polite and friendly. The sad thing is, I don't think we have enough guys to let the freshmen redshirt, this is the success in the SEC! Redshirting kids the freshman year, letting them mature and get on a lifting program.

Spring is eternal, I know. But tell me when in Kentucky history, has we ever had 7 to 8 starters that were 4 star guys. This could be a really Nasty defense if they want it bad enough, I see 6 to 7 of these guys playing on Sunday. Hopeful the coaching staff puts us in a place to win.
