New (way too early) Bracketology

Not sure of his reasoning to have us and Duke as one seeds right now over UNCheat and Oklahoma.

Also, I hope and pray we get the South. We need Michigan State and Kansas to drop some games. We don't want them both being 1 seeds over us with one going to Chicago and one to Louisville.

I already have my ticket for the Louisville regional.

I would say it's a joke that nd, wisconsin, wv, etc are in our bracket but that's probably not too far off from what the committee will do.

It seems the tourney gets more and more "storylined" every year.

Duke will not get a 1 seed while UNC gets a 2. UNC will finish ahead of Duke in the ACC and probably beat them 2/3 times

Wow, LSU isn't even on the bubble with all the talent they have. South Carolina on the other hand is in as of now.
I believe SC is legit. They really have a shot to go 13-0 OOC. Then a chance to finish above .500 at 10-8 or 11-7 or so in the SEC. Usually they would've dropped 3-4 games by now to USC Upstate, the Citadel, and the like.

9 ACC teams? Seems like a lot to me.

I really don't understand some of the seeding decisions in this one. UNC #2, Duke #1, Indiana in the tournament. I suppose it's all in good fun at this point.

I'm surprised after the bad loss but it was a true road game across the country to a power conference team. Still lots of season to play.

Yes, and anyone who watched that game could see UCLA played out of their minds. Just a bad night for UK. Tony Parker certainly didn't make it easy on UK's young frosh. Still, we'd take Skal or any of your starters in a second up here in Champaign. I still think you guys come together when it matters most.

Right. I don't know how you guys put up with the mediocrity for so long in what could be a powerhouse with the right coach. Good fan support. Great in state recruiting base. Great conference. Calipari would kill it there at Illinois.....he would pretty much any where though.

I remember 2 years ago waiting outside the United Center for the Champions Classic, a group of Illini fans were talking trash about how Groce was going to be so awesome and keep Calipari out of Chicago, and start recruiting nationally, have Illinois Top 5 every year, etc etc. I just laughed.

You guys need to lure one of the really good coaches who is also and excellent recruiter. Someone like Archie Miller (if his recruiting is anything like his brother's at Arizona) would do well there.....I think.

No signs of the Illini. Most of us are ready to see Groce go. I would have liked to have seen someone like Pearl at Illinois. I think he would have actually landed some kids from in-state.

Doesn't Pearl have some sort of history with Illinois? I may have him mixed up with Gillispie, because I think Gillispie was an assistant at Illinois. But I thought Pearl either turned Illinois in for a violation, or maybe was an assistant there and got turned in, or something like that. I do think Pearl would do well at Illinois though. Two of my all-time favorite non-UK teams were the two Illinois teams that played in the Championship Game. I loved the team with Kendall Gill, Battle, Hamilton, Anderson, etc. I also really liked the Deron Williams team.

Yeah, he was involved in ratting out Illinois in the Deon Thomas recruitment. While he was at Iowa, he recorded a phone call with Thomas where Thomas reportedly admitted taking a vehicle and cash from Illinois assistant Jimmy Collins. The Chicago public league vowed to shut Pearl out entirely from their players. I mean, with that in mind, it would take some research and groundwork to see if those days have passed, but it would be worth a look now.
