New Names

The HS teams are on the backside of their seasons now.

I would expect that we may hear 2-3 new names which have been on the back burner come to the front w little.

I also think that there will be 2-3 flips to UK. One WR has already been mentioned. Brian Robinson (I am assuming is a Cat)

Our greatest needs are still

1. OT (possibly 2). I know that I would feel better, but there is very very limited room

2. WR has already mentioned

Possibly

ATH/DB that decommits from somewhere that is having a tough season, and is highly rated, sees what UK is doing and reaches out.

RB. Very doubtful, but possible. Again, look for someone who reaches out to UK

Just guesses on my part. Something to share here

It’s crazy how we couldn’t recruit skill position players for shit and now it seems they are knocking the door down. Thank God for Coen.

DEFENSE

DL unless a huge NT

DE. Robinson would def end that need. This may be the best DE class ever in depth

LB. Again. Maybe the best ever in depth

DB. Redundant, but the coaches are killing it on defense

OFFENSE

QB. Maybe a transfer?

RB. Looks like a good one. Do we need another? Would they take a transfer?

OT. To me, this is the biggest need. Transfer?

IOL. We have several, so depth is tremendous and they are all mid-level ranked. They will need to mature some and get stronger, but there is a foundation there for all of them regardless of ranking

TE. It’s ok. Good not great, but could be w development

WR. Lots of incoming depth. If Rico S flips, the talent would be truly SEC level deep, and rival any UK class for the position

With the 25 man signing limit gone I wonder how many players we end up signing in this class ? We're already at 20 and hoping for Robinson on Wednesday. Let's say he commits and that puts us at 21. I'm gonna say we end up at 28 in the end. What number do you all see ?

I would think we will take roughly 20 HS recruits a year, leaving room for transfers like you said.

Depends on the number of expected openings. To me, 25 HS recruits OK if expect 28+ openings.

I thought there was still a 25 limit for 1st time signees (high school recruits and JUCO signees), but transfers only count towards the 85 limit on total scholarships.

So, I agree with others that think they will sign right at 25 HS/JUCO kids with an additional 6-8 transfers

I believe that was dropped back in 2022 for a total of two seasons to compensate with the portal. It will probably stay dropped in 2024 next year when the Two Years are up.

If a DL who can play wants to come you take them if they are a fit . Plenty of playing time for big guys . 20 hardcore 100% snaps a game in a rotation in the beginning is the way to start to get your reputation and springboard to a final big year .

The NCAA Division I Council has eliminated the limit of 25 scholarships per recruiting class in football for the next two years. The move is expected to become official when the council's meeting ends today. Programs that compete on the Football Bowl Subdivision level are allowed to have 85 scholarship players.May 18, 2022
