R.J. Barrett was the high-profile visitor on UK’s campus last week, but the Cats also hosted another recruit from the class of 2018.

Jaxson Hayes — a 6-10, 195-pound power forward from Cincinnati — visited UK, which continues to cast a wide net for post player targets in the 2018 class.

Hayes is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 161 overall player in the senior class. He has reported offers from Texas, Ohio State, Xavier and Butler, among others, and has planned official visits for Texas and Xavier over the next two weeks.

The possibility of several five-star frontcourt players returning to Kentucky after this season could lessen — or completely eliminate — the need to add much in the way of post players from the 2018 class. Freshmen P.J. Washington, Nick Richards and sophomores Sacha Killeya-Jones and Tai Wynyard could all be back after this season. Tall wings Wenyen Gabriel, Kevin Knox and Jarred Vanderbilt could also return.

At this point, UK is seriously recruiting 6-10 power forward Simi Shittu and has extended a scholarship offer to 7-3 power forward Bol Bol.

Other under-the-radar frontcourt players like Hayes are bound to pop up on UK’s radar over the next few months.

Washington, Richards and Knox are gone. The others are here unless they transfer.

Cal might be adjusting to the new recruiting scene. That's a good thing. We've needed to for a while.

If that's what he's doing.

I like the kid's video. Needs a year to get stronger, Probably could play a lot as a junior and senior and he's from nearby Cinn. Need two or three four year guys on the roster..

Diallo and Knox are gone. Richards doesn't have the offensive game yet. I see Washington as a two year guy, like T. Jones.

The kid upside or Cal wouldn't be looking at him, but being 6'10 and only weighing 195 pounds tells me this dude probably isn't going to be ready from the moment he steps on the court. Nothing wrong with that, not every recruit will be. I know KD wasn't beefy entering the NBA, but if we're being honest, not many players on the entire planet are as talented of a basketball player as KD. If Cal offers, the kid will be worth the offer. Cal is pretty good at finding talented players.

Richards will be drafted 7ft 250 and a freak athlete. How many 250 lb kids are freak athletes only 4 years of organized hoops. Vanderbilt was rated highest of all the fresh on ESPN's mock draft.

Not a bad investment, if we have an available scholarship, which I suspect we will.

We should have at least SKJ and Wynyard back as Juniors.

Shouldn't need this kid to play next season.

But, right now I think Cal is just putting out feelers in case some of the guys he expects back leave.

I find it curious that Cal has only offered Bol so far when it comes to big men. Cal's focus seems to be on the guard/wings positions.

Either this class is extremely weak for big men, or he believes we will have a lot of guys back.

I doubt he wants to wait around and sign a guy like this to be his starting Center. He either thinks Bol is coming (doubtful) or that he is going to have enough guys back that can hold down the frontline.

What do you know Cardinal? Vanderbilt was rated right behind diallo in mock drafts. Scouts said that is as is and if he shows any shooting ability he could go way higher. That was according to scouts talking to ESPN. Knox may play himself higher. Washington is far from a lock and most likely returns at 6FT7.5 classic tweener. Go read some articles and do some research before talking out of ur butt

What if Cal is stocking the roster with guys who will hang because he knows he's leaving in two years?

@Aike, maybe he's leaving the cupboard stocked for the next guy to have it a little easier? It's possible?

This guy averaged about 2 blocks and 2 steals per game despite only playing about fifteen minutes per game. Get him on campus in June, beef him up and practice him against the best of the best for 18 months, and you might really have something.

I doubt we would look for much from him as a freshman.

Maybe so. I'd say it's pretty important to Cal that he's welcomed back with open arms if/when he decides to hang it up.

That hasn't been the norm with Kentucky coaches, but Cal really cares about his legacy. Watch how he goes back to UMASS and tried to mend fences with Memphis.

Richards is projected as a lottery pick right now. If he's that good, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I was trying to scare people and you played perfectly, but it seems everyone passed it up.

Oh well, I'll save this post and if it becomes true, I'm a genius.

Yeah well. I don't scare too easily. He's going to leave at some point.

I get Washington and Vanderbilt mixed up. 1 will leave, the other is a maybe.

Richards is gone 100%. He will be drafted on measurables and potential. Plus, the money would probably go a long way to help his family. He is relatively new to the game and has tremendous upside. Nick is explosive, agile, and has great size.
If you don't think he'll go after one season, compare him to Tyson Chandler.

Nothing is 100%.
