New CWS June Update Video

Will be one of those WOW moments for KY fans when they first walk into the stadium in Sept. One thing to see photos and all, but being there will be something else. Total transformation that is really starting to take shape and look very nice.

Good post. Looks nice excited to see how it is when its all finished up.

So the EZs are going to be a "low contrast blue and blue" checkerboard with a big white KENTUCKY over the top?

I recall a previous thread about the checkerboard but the pic posted in the other thread did not show it well at all. FWIW, I love the contrasting 5 yard strips across the field but do agree with those who think they could have done a somewhat larger mid field logo (but the current size keeps it all on the same green background). It's all good.

Peace

That's why I believe the picked the size they did. The 10 yards in the middle that are the same shade of green was used to frame the logo. It looks fine to me.

If you want anymore evidence of how critical these renovations and facility additions are just check out all of the recruits who are posting photos and videos on Twitter non stop.

These improvements are program changing things happening before our eyes and I think this coming season will be the final thing this staff needs to get the full attention of the type of recruits they need to compete in the SEC on a regular basis.

I've been around a number of large scale Construction projects in my career, and I've seen some miracles pulled out at the last minute to get things finished on time. This is going to take one of those miracles. They have quite a bit left to do still. Don't touch anything when you get there opening day, you might get wet paint on your hands.

That being said, I can't wait to see the finished results.

Agree but if you compare what has been done to what it looked like 90 days ago in bad weather the progress has been substantial. They may not get everything done, but I think most of it will get done. Rain will not halt getting the inside projects done. The outside projects look to be getting closer to completion with enclosing the box suites being the obvious major project left to do. Probably the biggest job on the exterior will be cleaning up the outside and getting all of the landscaping done. The outside painting jobs are time consuming but one of the easier projects. Highly doubt they get the team store built this year.

Just curious, but what looks to be unlikely to be completed come opening day?

Is this more about how far they appear to need to go in terms of actually doing the work within the suites and the recruiting room or are there other things that look behind schedule?

Hardly any drywall has been hung, the recruiting room still needs a roof of it apparently, the floor is covered in water. Hardly any of the glass facade has been hung on the luxury boxes and press boxes.

To hang that quantity of drywall, tape, mud, sand to finish, paint trim, or apply any other finishes, is not a quick job.

I think things are ahead of schedule... They have the dry wall and the electricity already ran.... The glass won't be much of a problem... I would say the bells and whistles will be the more tedious things left to do on the stadium... The floor will go down fast... I like the speed they're proceeding at and can't wait to look at the final picture...

Dry wall takes no time. They can install a drop ceiling pretty quick. I can see the boxes from where I work and there is a lot to be done. They have had plenty of time to do it, and I would be reasonably sure they budget time accordingly. Tearing down and building up the infrastructure takes forever, the cosmetics can roll out pretty quick.

You've not been around much construction have you.... Keep your first ticket so you can see a brand new stadium....

Those luxury boxes are $$$ for the athletic department. Suites will be ready come hell or high water. Now there may be limited concession/restroom availability, no landscaping, no team store, the parking lots may still be a muddy mess, etc, but you can bet they'll get those suites and club levels finished. Gotta make the big money donors happy.

Did someone mention they were behind schedule? I haven't heard anything about that.... Those guys that do that work are fast and good... That's why they make the big bucks.... They give you a date and they'll be ready.... The most that wouldn't be completed, would be the landscaping, the flowers, trees, etc..... The parking will not be mud holes.... You can bet your last dollar that the team store will be open... Too much money too lose if it isn't....

With the past that we have in football, I am glad that we have interested big money donors, its probably the number one reason that other programs do so well with their facilities. I hope they enjoy their areas so much that in the future they will want to throw several more millions to expand the place.

There are serious financial penalties to the contractor if the project is not done. What penalties are in the contract I am not sure, but you can bet it will be done by the first game except some very small things that were anticipated when the contract was signed. Enclosing the suites looks to be the biggest job by far right now. I do not see a ton of movement on those yet (considering the time frame now) and frankly am surprised they do not have more crews working on it. The drywall, carpet, paint, etc. are easy projects to get done and are always the last minute jobs that contractors scramble to do. They have folks who are very experienced with projects of this size. I am sure they are fully aware of what needs to get done and know what timeframes they have now.

ALOT has been done in the last 80-90 days and I expect ALOT to get done from now until Sept.

Yeah I wasn't saying I disagree with that thought process at all. I was just saying we probably shouldn't be too worried about the suites getting done because of what those mean to our program in comparison to some of the other stadium features.
