Nebraska and Tenn are Mirror Image Programs

I would say at least Tennessee is on the road to recovery, for now any way. They did beat us last year so you can pan them too much. But Nebraska is just a total dumpster fire. There is something seriously wrong with the culture there. The game today was similar to several of their games last season where they play well the first 3 quarters and then for some reason go into a shell and just slowly melt down. They just don't have a winning attitude anymore.

I always like to read the Athlon CF summer preview because they quote anonymous coaches on their opinions of other teams. The Nebraska analysis was interesting, basically said that every year they’re so puzzling because when you see them, they look as big and athletic as any team in the Big 10 other than Ohio State, but when they get on the field as a team it’s just a total trainwreck, like nobody has any idea what to do.

Frost is 5-21 in one score games since arriving in Lincoln. At some point, the excuses no longer can be accepted. He's just not a very good coach.

Tennessee fans talk like they have Nebraska's history.

UTs woes similarly began when Phil's 8 wins wasn't good enough, but they have not made a good hire since (Heupel pending).
Tennesssee history should never be mentioned in the same breath as NU.

NU has 5 consensus NCs and do NOT claim another 6. NU has 46 conf titles

UT has 2 Consensus NCs but CLAIM 6 more. and 16 SEC Titles. I get the SEC is tougher historically, but I would never mention those two programs in tandem.

Both are overhyped EVERY season yet have continually disappoint and been irrelevant for decades.
I HATE losing to Tenn.

Not sure how you see it that way. Both have had some dark days, but Frost is going to be lucky to get through the season, on a 7 game losing streak. Vols looked pretty good most games, return a QB who is big, fast, accurate and good decision maker. They will be a tough out this year too with their ability to run temp and score in a hurry. With the pass rush Nebraska was getting against Northwestern, the Vols would put 50+ on them.

Agree, I actually think Chumlee’s team has a legit shot to win the east this year. UK is being talked about more because we’ve had more success of late, but we put up 600+ yards of total offense against the Vols last year and still lost. Then again, Florida handled them and they lost two head scratchers to Pitt and Ole Miss. they are an unpredictable team. I will say that if UK and UT both finish 9-3 this year, both fanbases will be mildly disappointed, but the national media sentiment will be that UK underachieved and UT overachieved, which I think is funny.

I don't disagree with you. I just don't see them as the SEC version of Nebraska. They will have some offensive weapons this fall and you better be ready for their pace.

Until UF quit on Mullen last year they were a good team. But once they quit on him, one of the worst P5 teams in the country, maybe the worst.

We are definitely keeping the Vols on the edge of being relevant. No one else to blame for that, but let's see how their defense does this year before the SEC network crowns them a 1 loss team. NOTE: They already have done this.

Who said that? They play alabama and uga so that's 2 losses minimum.

As a UT fan I will be thrilled if UT goes 9-3, as I would think is true for the majority of UT fans. Most analysts preseason have UT at 8-4, with 9-3, 10-2 being best case, and 6-6, 5-7 being worst case, depending in the analyst.

Pitt was prior to Hooker taking over as the #1 QB. Milton simply overthrew wide open receivers on vertical routes at least 5 times, but ultimately I thought UT blew its chance to win late in the game when UT failed to pick up a 1st down on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 inside the Pitt 10 yl trailing 41-34. I just hate running short yardage out of the shotgun.

Against UF the Vols were only down 17-14 at the half after Hooker was injured late 1st half and missed the rest of the game. Starting RT was also out for the game and starting center was unjured 2rd qtr and left the game. Plus lack if depth, especially on D caught up to them.

Ole Miss was a frustrating game. Refs inexplicably took 7 UT points off the board in the 1st half after the D sacked Corral, picking up his fumble and running for a TD. Both the ref and the center judge ran downfield with Young and both signaled TD. Then Kiffin whined and the refs cinferred, then ruled Corral was un the grasp and removed the TD. Yet a couple of series later UT grabbed Corral in the EZ. The defender had Corral in the grasp for much longer than on the sack and fumble that was overturned, but this time the ref did not rule in rhe grasp. Corral had thrown the ball from the EZ while in the grasp so fortunately the refs ruled intentional grounding, so UT got the sack anyway, but the 2 plays showed a glaring inconsistency in 'in the grasp' calls from the same ref. Not saying UT would have won if the TD stood, but instead of UT taking the lead they played from behind the rest of the game.

I think 8-4 is a reasonable expectation this season. Heupel has more depth to work with, but at this point, much of it is inexperienced depth. If UT can get through September without a blemish, which will mean beating UF and a ranked Pitt at their house, then we might think about 9-3 being a possibility. But UT still has games against LSU, UK, UGA, and Bama, so a tough schedule. And at this point USC is somewhat of a mystery with the addition of Rattler and some other transfers. Plus the game is at their house. So I would be thrilled with a 9-3 regular season record.
