I love this time of year. Kids are playing their butts off and you get to see college teams at their best.
The NCAA tourney is the most exciting multi-game annual sporting event in the world and the sweet sixteen / elite eight rounds always produce phenomenal games .
You also see noticeable differences between good vs. great coaches. Just look at who is still standing and those that went home early.
Noticeably weak coaching performances:
1. Barnes - can't seem to get anything out of his talent
2. Roy - kids don't play tough. Failure to call timeouts at critical moments
3. Johnny Jones - couldn't get his team to relax and focus down the stretch. Gets less out of more.
Strong coaching
1. Izzo
2. Pitino
3. Cal
4. Brey
Some non-UK players I've enjoyed watching.
1. Trice - MSU
2. Winslow - Duke
3. Dekker - Wisconsin
4. Russell - OSU
5. Stainbrook - Xavier
Finally, I don't think Duke is going to survive both Gonzaga and the winner of MSU / Louisville. They'll go down somewhere.
Oh, and Wiltjer still can't guard anybody.
