Earlier this week, the NCAA adopted 6 new rules for college football. I can see how Kentucky could really benefit from two of the rules. One creates an early signing period in December, and the other allows teams to add a 10th assistant coach.

Given the way this team recruits, I could see the early signing period really benefiting this staff. We could lock some players down before some of the Alabama's of the world can get in late and steal them away.

The extra coach could allow us to open up another recruiting area, and or deal with an obvious deficiency on our team like special team.

I like the ideal of having an early singing period, but the majority of the time we replaced those that we lost with better players in the long run.

Like the concept, now we will have to see if the teams like UK can get guys to sign on the dotted line early. That will be more difficult than we think I'm afraid.

I like the early signing period but I think the big guys will just amp up and try to sign more then as well. IMHO our advantage may come with some late developers or late bloomers that we can pluck before the big guys can evaluate them or have committed/signed who they pretty much want.

I agree, most kids will want to wait and see how their recruiting plays out. You will have a few that are 100% sold on a program and sign early, but the majority will wait.

IF you have 4 that are signed on the dotted line that's 4 less players that you have to waste extra money to recruit until NSD. There are financial perks to this new rule.
