I put this argument into context using three of the more popular computer models available: RPI, BPI, Sagarin. Below shows how UK has performed (its record) against those teams rated at the top of each service. I also show these numbers relative to Virgina, Duke, Kansas, UL, Wisconsin
#2 most wins agains RPI top 25 (5 wins)
#1 most wins agains RPI top 50 (11 wins)
#3 most wins against SAGARIN top 25 (5 wins)
#1 most wins agains SAGARIN top 50 (12 wins)
#1 most wins against BPI top 50 (14 wins)
#1 most wins against BPI top 100 (20 wins)
The team with the fewest wins in nearly all major categories is UL
The SOS numbers are a bit down relative to the others. This can only be explained by weaker competition against teams ranked 100+. Its certainly not due to the quantity/quality of competition at the top.
