I'm not a football guru, but....

1. This is our 3rd OC in 4 yrs
2. No offensive identity with Brown
3. No offensive identity with Dawson
4. Evidence of Stoops micromanaging
5. Embarrassing Special Teams
6. Embarrassing lack of defensive in game adjustments
7. Embarrassing offensive line play
8. Admitted to no preparation for known running QB threat
9. Lack of reps for development for Barker, then go with him in the end, then switch back to Towles again.

IF, and that's a big IF, Stoops makes a big hire then let's hope that he lets the the OC coach the offense, and perhaps Stoops help coach defense for Elliot. I know we scratched our heads a lot on offense, but it was the defense, Special teams, overall lack of preparation, and lack of in game adjustments that defined this team. If you look back, you could argue that the offense the best prepared unit on the field. Defense, OL, DL, and ST had far bigger issues.

All this to say that Towles may have hit the nail on the head with his ❌ tweet. You have to have a plan for situations in the game, you can't put less than 11 guys on the field, can't go for long kicks with an injured kicker, can't make last second bad decisions, and for the sake of all that is Holy you gotta score on Vanderbilt from first and goal from the 1 yard line. Hopefully we have continued recruiting success and the next HC has something to work with.
