At least for the month of January, I am implementing a new anger management technique that worked really well last night for this team at this current state in the season. Once the Cats get down double digits on the road Im turning the game off and watching something else (last night my wife and i started watching Making a Murderer....fascinating stuff). I will check in periodically to see if anything has really changed and warrants to flip back over. We actually flipped over once when we cut it 4 in the 2nd half, but immediately in less than a minute it was back up to 9 so we flipped it back to Netflix.

Needless to say, I avoided game rage and went to bed way more calm than if I had watched the 2nd half of the game. This team just does not have the ability right now to come all the way back from double digits on the road at this point and until they turn the corner (hopefully they will like 2011 and 2014) I'm saving myself the anger when they're down more than 10 on the road in any game. We all had that OSU/UCLA feeling at halftime so I saved myself from high blood pressure the rest of the way.

I missed a few minutes of the second half with a poorly timed phone call, when I got back to the game, we had cut the lead. Then, as I started watching again, Kentucky started turning the ball over again, and Willis was lost on defense allowing for easy scores, and it was my fault that I was watching. If I hadn't watched, we might have won. Sorry.

Just posted in another thread that I'll continue to watch on tv but once the double digit deficit comes up, I'm pulled out the laptop and distracting myself.

Really glad that my wife and I decided not to try to make weekend road trips to see any away SEC games this year. (we normally have done 2-4 each winter). We're spending that money on some overdue home improvements instead. Seems like we picked the right season to do it.

There's an alternate path that can help frantic fans: don't be a braggart and condescending when things go well. That old truism keeps on being true: it's only a game.

So many of the team's problems will be solved with time. Experience can't be faked and won't be hurried. If you really need instant gratification, try heroin.**

I did the same exact thing! Only I watched Ancient Battles on The History Channel. I checked back at the same point when we had cut it to 4 then went back down by 9. I figured we played better when I wasn't watching so I changed the channel again. When I saw the final score I'm glad I did.

With you...it helps

My son and I played FIFA the entire 2nd half and followed the score online.

I didn't watch the 2nd half of Ohio State game either.

So much better for my stress level. I will continue to do this for this season.

I'm addicted to pain. I can't take my eyes off the screen.

I subscribe to that therapy as well. I may have seen 5-10 game minutes of the second half. I get that gut feeling this isn't our night and can't bare to watch.

I am superstitious - I have this really messed up logic about the team losing or winning when I am not watching the game - and believe that I somehow influence the game if I start watching mid way thru. I've been that way for years - I have to be in the other room when the game is on if I didn't catch the start of it.

I just don't get angry anymore. It's not worth it.

Last year was great, we were perfect until the end, and it was all for not. So it really makes no difference if we win or not during the regular season. The unfortunate part is we probably won't play in the Louisville Regional this year and we are probably at best a Sweet 16 team. It's hard to lose 7 players and be good the following year and we are seeing this. We'll be much better next year.

So ironic! I actually turned the game off early as well. Could not take seeing another and 1 layup or blown defensive assignment. So, my wife and i decided to finish watching "Making a Murderer."

Glad to know I'm not the only one! Couldn't believe how effective it was! Here's to hoping we are in it the whole time Saturday and that Murray and Ulis lit a fire under our bigs!

Sorry to get off topic for a moment but.......

I've been hearing great things about that "Making a Murderer" show. Everyone seems to be raving about it. Howard Stern went on and on about how great it is. Guess I'm going to have to check it out. You've finished watching it already? So, what's your take? Is it ok? Good? Great? Freakin Epic?

I need to know before I dive into it. Lol

I will continue to watch every second of every minute of the game that UK is playing until they burn my body and even then I want my urn right up next to the TV during the season when I am dead. No anger management needed here. o
