First topic is Eric Musselman Arkansas head coach. The same coach who’s team just spanked our favorite team in our own arena. But point is I was scrolling twitter and came across this article. I personally want him as Cal’s replacement. Whether Cal is gone this year or whenever I’m not having that debate in this thread. Musselman is in pretty good company on this list. Actually reached 200 in 10 less games than @Old Jim dad Cal. Relax Jimmy I’m just poking fun at you because dang it annoys me how much you support cal and imo are blind to some of what’s going on.
Anyway yes this isn’t a special milestone just 200 wins not a title etc. But I truly do think it’s a look at what’s to come from him. He aggravates me with some of his antics and I don’t like him. But that’s because he’s “their” coach and I’m sure if he was wearing a blue polo I’d love him. I didn’t like Cal before he got to UK either but up until the past few years I’ve loved him. I think no matter what school Musselman coaches if he can get his players like he had this year before injuries. I think he’ll win a title in the next 5 years.
He has the NBA pedigree so the “studs” aka 1 & dones can relate to him. His teams play get in your face and physically harass you defense and he gets freak athletes. Sound like a coach who we ALL once loved right? So I think he’d be my first call whenever Cal is no longer the Kentucky coach.
Ok my second point is a lot shorter. If you’re on Twitter there’s 2 really awesome accounts you need to follow for college basketball analytics. One is Shot_Quality this account breaks down players and teams quality of shots. Pretty cool.
Look at this graph they posted regarding 3 point shooting. Look at where our cats are. We’re of course not the best. BUT not only are we really good at making 3’s but the 3’s we do take are most of the time very high quality selections. So that leaves me with this question for my fellow BBN. Why the heck does John Vincent Calipari not incorporate more 3 point shots into the game and his offensive plan?!?!?!?!! And you can’t say he does when several times in several games the players come down the court and immediately try passing Oscar the ball. How many times have we heard Cal say we need to get Oscar going coming out of halftime or pregame/postgame.
