Monk or Newman

We want both, never understand posts where kids that have nothing to do with each other are compared. One gets to feel slighted and since they are both at the top of our list in separate classes why bother. Not trying to bag on you specifically but kids do read message boards. I know if they are affected by what they read on a message board we don't want them bla bla bla, but in this case we want both-indy

draft express compares newman to a monta ellis. not bad. monk will start getting evaluated more now. but he has a longer reach.

Long-term? Monk. Newman can't do this.

However, what does it matter? Monk can't play for UK next year. Newman can. And we're talking about the difference between college All-American/NBA starter potential (Newman) vs college All-American/NBA All-Star potential (Monk). It's not like you lose out either way.

Newman. Monk can score a lot of points but is a bad three point shooter,

If he's a "bad" 3 point shooter, how did he manage to hit 42 of them in 16 Nike EYBL games last spring/summer, including 10 in one game? That compares to the 26 Newman hit in 12 games (and Monk shot a better percentage).

Monk tends to be streaky, but honestly, so does Newman. And there's nothing wrong with Monk's shot. His mechanics are excellent.

They are both awesome and will both be. Ill eve stars with huge NBA potential. Hopefully both play at UK.

Good answer, wish others would take the hint and not try to compare.

No doubt we want both. In fact I think both are the best players in their class. But between the two I'm taking Newman. Monk has great athleticism but Newman does also. You just never see Newman use it as much. Newman is the most skilled offensive SG in the last decade IMO. That's what sets him apart from Monk. Monk might be a tad better athlete but Newman's offensive game is world class even as a high school senior.

Newman absolutely abused an Orangeville Prep team with multiple top level players including both of the Makers. It was like watching a bunch of 12 year olds trying to guard a 16 year old. He got wherever, whenever and against whoever. Even scoring when triple teamed. He did all that while rarely missing a shot. His ability to fire from any position or spot once across from half court is uncanny. I'll take Newman's shooting anytime over Monk's, and any other player in the country regardless of class as well.

Newman Can Dunk As Well

Monk will be the better player long term I would think.
Newman reminds me a lot of brandon knight to be honest. A good thing at this level but playing the 2 guard in the league is tough on 6-2" guys.

Newman is the best prospect in this class and has the potential to be one of the all time fan favorites. He gonna be an all star with the ball.

LMAO at this thread!!! The different "expert" analysis are completely different. Monk is a poor 3 pt shot, Monk shoots the 3 well with great mechanics, Newman is the elite athlete, Monk is the elite athlete, Newman is better scorer, Monk is the better scorer. It is quite humorous.
The best posts on this thread are the ones who state the obvious.....both are ELITE prospects, IN DIFFERENT CLASSES, who we would love to have both as a Wildcat. More than likely, they will never play together at UK, so it's kinda irrelevant question IMO. They're both blue chippers for sure.

I'll take Wall and Bledsoe. Life's working out pretty good for each of them, I'd say. No reason that two or more elite players can't thrive together at UK.
