Not sure what you're talking about, because I don't listen to much Matt Jones at all, just follow their recruiting content and such, so I'm indifferent. That said, he has always maintained that he feels good about UK's chances. Better than most. He didn't know, he likely won't claim that he did know, because he would be lying, but he never wavered in saying that UK had a real shot.
Really stepping out on a limb saying we still had a chance. Since Cal has been here we've never been out of the running.
What you're saying is true, but it's intellectually dishonest in the context of the board/national recruiting attitude.
Everybody had conceded Knox except Jones and the UK coaching staff.
I'm not the biggest MJ fan, but it's silly not to give him credit calling that.
He didnt call Knox to UK though. Simply said UK isnt out of the running. Its not like we never got a visit and he just kept the UK name around on his final list for shits n gigs. In a recruitment that was pretty quiet and we hung around as long as we did, it was safe to assume there was still at least a slight chance. Having said that i didnt think Knox was coming here and i follow recruiting as close as anyone i know. But i always assumed there was at least a snowballs chance in hell.

Ok, it only last 10 mins and there really wasn't anything newsworthy. He did say he's not as confident about Bamba for unspecified reasons not having to do with Knox.
He said Vince Marrow and Knox's dad are good friends.

In all honesty, you can't get a much better track record with UK recruits than Jones. Haters can hate all they want but just like the poster above, even the haters who don't listen to him want to know what he's saying. Anyone can try and deny him and his sources but he's the 1st person I'm looking to for UK news. Hasn't let me down yet. It's not his job to make predictions and he doesn't unless asked, he just gives the info he's hearing. He was about the only person that I know that never waivered on UK feeling good about Knox.
He said he had heard other rumors but the folk at UK (the staff) has always felt good about Knox. So, bash him all u want but the guy knows his shit with UK recruits.
We agree to disagree, but I'll take Jones being right about Knox all day, guess or not.
Jones has been of that position for a month or so now (he keeps hinting at something potentially ominous in this recruitment, but he’ll never tell), although others have not wavered in their belief that Bamba is UK-bound.
It’s going to be hard for Bamba to pick against Cal, Green, Knox, and his other friends. I’d be surprised at this point if it’s anyone but UK.

While that may be true, nobody else following UK or recruiting gave us any shot to land Knox. He could do that for every recruit I suppose, but he doesn't.
I wanted to know what he said bc i assumed he'd gloat about not waivering on his thought we'd get knox, even though as another poster stated, he said he didnt think we'd get him during Fridays show.

A detail I had not heard previously, but every connection helps when there's a tough decision to be made.
I did hear Kevin Knox Sr. talk about how K said Knox reminded him of Grant Hill. Of course K said that. He says that then lets him sit with Bolden for a year. Did he tell Bolden he reminded him of Okafor? Of course K did.
And with the Knox/Bamba/UK cookies/30for30 etc....anything that gives us an advantage for Bamba to come here, the better.
Bamba would blow this board up if he commits here.
This is Cal's greatest recruiting class ever? How does he do it? We are seeing something that is simply unmatched.
