Milwaukee at Kentucky (Game 2)

Cats up 3-0 in the top of the third. A John Rhodes 3 run home run is the difference. UK has had a lot of runners on, including bases loaded with 1 out in the first but couldn't score them.

Lee in a jam in the third with runners on the left side and 1 out.

Lee got back to back strikeouts for the first two outs but gives up an oppo full count double over 3rd to give up 2 runs.

3-2. Lee then hit a batter.

Anu grounded out to 2nd. Rubalcaba lined one through the gap between 2nd and third for a single. Hill then put down a perfect bunt for a single. Perfect. Thing rolled all the way to the corner of third base before getting picked up.

Ritter rolls into a routine double play 4-6-3 to end the UK third.

3-2 Cats

I did not buy season tix this year, can you just walk up to the gate and buy a ticket if there are socially distant seats available?

I think there are single game tickets but may need to call ahead. Not positive.

Cats get a couple and Milwaukee changes pitchers. A couple of hits and some walks made this possible. Anu now up with the bases loaded and 0 outs.

Anu grounds out sharply to first. A good situation for UK given what could have been. 6-2.

Rubalcaba flies one to left and Rhodes still goes for the run... he scores and it's not close. Throw was terrible.

Hill with a deep fly ball to the wall in the gap of right, but it finds the glove. He gave it a ride, but the park held it.

6-2 UK going to the 5th of 7

Lol yep. Sorry about that. It is 7-2. Reading is hard.

Lee still out there. I imagine this might be his last. I think he has done very well. I think he's got a lot of potential.

Good fast inning for Lee. A strikeout and a couple grounders between an HBP.

New pitcher for Milwaukee.

Ugh Ritter didn't hustle and failed to beat out an infield single. It was sharply hit and bounced off third and short picked it up and made a long throw. Ritter was still holding his bat for a bit.

Church making his case for starting more. Another hit, this one a double he rocketed down the left field line. Lewis then smacked it to right, but it gets hung up by the wind. It's enough for Church to tag up to third.

Schultz with a double into the right field gap. Center was playing him shallow and Schultz burns him for an RBI.

8-2.

Rhodes goes down swinging to end the 5th. Good job producing a run there.

Lee out again. I really figured he'd be done, but he's back out again. Last inning being quick helped. Harper warming up in the pen. Harper has been hurt all preseason.

Ground out to third. Church again with a good defensive play. He just looks smooth over there and nothing looks too difficult. As I say that he drops a difficult foul ball. He was afraid of the wall as he approached it and just couldn't haul it in. Lee doesn't mind though as he gets another K, his 7th.

Lee gives up a walk and a single to center. Roszel out to chat with Lee. Harper coming in. Hudepohl is also in there getting ready.

Hazelwood is going to pitch in game 3. He'll be on a strict pitch count.

One pitch. One out. Grounder to second ends the inning.

Going to bottom 6 up 8-2

TJ Collett murdered a baseball. Like... that should be illegal. It actually bounced off the wall and Collett slides in for a triple.

Hahahaha Shelby going to come in and pinch run for him. What a weird decision.

Anu with a beautiful at bat as he goes low and just takes the pitch into right for a line drive RBI. 9-2.

Rubalcaba flies out to right..he was just a touch off on that one.

Hill got behind in the count, but a 1-2 off speed pitch got away from the Panther pitcher and it hits Hill on the calf.

Ritter got under one and flies out to mid right Anu tagged to. Look for Hill to possibly steal second here.

Church bounces the first pitch to third to end the frame.

9-2 going to the last inning, the 7th

Harper back out and gets a quick out with a pop up to the catcher in foul territory. Then a grounder goes through the right side for a single.

A dying quail loops over Rhodes at first and Shelby fields it and gets it back. Runners at the corners. That wasn't a bad pitch, just a good piece of hitting to take what Harper gave him.

Ohh no! UK messes up the perfect defensive game as Lewis takes a grounder and drops the baseball before throwing it away at first. That's an error.

9-3 now. Shelby takes one in shallow right center for out number 2.

Wild pitch advances the runners. This one has been a touch of an adventure. Roszel out to talk with Harper. Think they are just getting on the same page.

Tennessee and Auburn both losing early in their games today. They are playing Indiana State and Baylor respectively.

Sloppy at the end but still a good win. Bats were active and the pitching was good for the most part.

So far I have no major complaints with anything I've seen in the first two games. We aren't striking out a ton and we arent making too many errors or mistakes. Pitching has been solid.

Of course... how does this translate when we play a team that is competitive? That, I don't know. Some of the pitches we get away with we may not against better teams and some of the hits we get may not be there. Still, with what we have faced so far... no major issues.
