He is cutting his list down tomorrow per his Twitter...he is currently at 5...UK, Michigan, Michigan State, UNC, and Iowa State. It'll be interesting to see what he narrows it to.

Thanks for the info! I definitely expect to see us and MSU. Wouldn't mind him getting on board early, from what I saw of him at the Nike EYBL at KBA, I think he's gonna be a star and continue to rise in the rankings.

He's wanted a UK offer for a very, very long time. He's spoken extensively about his interest in UK, and while it's possible that I may be wrong, I would consider us a lock to get him.

Pretty much a MSU lock. Been a Spartan fan since he was a youngster. Getting a UK offer is big news for any kid, but Bridges at the end of the day will stay local.
Very tight with Draymond Green, and associates with a number of current and former MSU players.
The list will get narrowed to UNC/ UK/ MSU

so did Bragg, but he went to Kansas

Yeah, sounds a lot like James Young in being an MSU 'lock.'

James Young was never considered an MSU lock by anyone that had any idea what they were talking about. It was pretty well known he wanted to go to Kentucky to play for Cal.

Bridges will come down to MSU or UK IMO. In most cases, I don't like our chances when going up against you guys, but in this situation I do. Like the poster said above, he is very close with some former and current MSU players. He's also a kid that has talked about how nice it would be to play near home. I think he misses being at home, and that will be another factor that helps us get him. He also has the opportunity to play with his good buddy Cassius Winston at MSU.

That being said, you can never count on UK and Cal with any recruit.

The James Young situation and this one regards Bridges have zero in common. Izzo has made it no secret his top two targets are Bridges and Cassius Winston for 2016, to go along with already commited Ohio big Nick Ward.
Izzo has been on both these kids forever, and has strong relationships with both.
Young was never such a target, nor was there ever much of a mutual interest/ relationship. Young was a known UK commit the minute he got the offer, it was no big secret.

I'm kinda slowly waning in wanting Bridges and hoping for Jonathan Isaac. Bridges seems more of an undersized 4, as opposed to Isaac being an oversized 3. If we end up with Bridges, I won't lose any sleep over it though :)

Just like the article a poster above stated, Izzo slow played interest in Young because of academic issues and uneven play. He got in extremely late.
As I stated earlier, nothing at all like the long term and mutual interest regards Bridges.
That article did nothing except buttress my point even further. MSU already had Appling and Gary Harris in the backcourt.
He did a great job at UK, good fit for the kid. Appling and Harris showed that when both were healthy they were easily the best backcourt in the country until the Appling injury. The two had what, over 40 between them in the Champions classic game against UK.

Agreed.

Bridges is a Dawson clone. MSU is probably the best fit for him. Izzo does pretty well with undersized bigs (like Dawson and Green).

Isaac is probably the best fit for us.

But if Cal wants this kid and the kid wants to come here, then I'm good with that.

Bridges already has a more developed perimeter game than Dawson left MSU with after 4 years. Not saying he will be better than Dawson, but he certainly is more well rounded offensively at the same stage in careers.

I agree. Though Bridges us a top four scorer on the Nike circuit his 3-point shooting was horrible. That's a statistical fact. Isaac can be as good as he wants to be.

Izzo went all in on Parker for that class( was for a long time his only focus) obviously he didn't get him.
Young wanted to be a one year player, frankly UK was his best destination. He likely wasn't going to play that many minutes at MSU with Harris and Appling in the backcourt, and Valentine and Trice on the roster as well.
Thus the late interest and slow play. He was a want, not a need.

So he narrowed his list from 5 to 8?

So he narrowed his list from 5 to 8?

Lol. Yup he "narrowed" from five to eight.

That list is per his Twitter page this morning, so it's the real deal.
Looks like he took the list of five, and added three programs from major conferences that are in the top 15.

Yep. Appears he cut the list from 5 to 8. This was not what I expected. I expected some cuts when he cut his list.

Hilarious using the terms 'all in' on a recruit. As opposed to what? I offered the kid but I wasn't really 'all in'. ??

As in..... Being a constant presence at his games, staying in constant contact, letting the kid know he is a priority target for your program. And being involved long term to develope a relationship
Not every kid a program recruits gets equal attention. I don't know why someone would have an issue understanding that.
And some offers have caveats.

So he narrowed his list from 5 to 8?

Do you think Cal recruited Kyle Wiltjer and Julius Randle with the same intensity and effort?

If he thinks going from 5 to 8 is "narrowing" then this kid is never going to get the necessary test scores to qualify anyway. LOL!

Gonzo, no I don't. The conversation was referring to Young and those recruiting him were definitely 'all in'.

Oh, I know. I'm just saying I think there's merit to those arguing that you fcan recruit a kid, offer them a scholarship, but not be "all in" or however you want to phrase the term. In fact, I think Kentucky does it pretty often with kids that are not our top priorities at their position.

I wasn't extremely impressed while watching Bridges highlights. Just doesn't seem like a natural 3. Would much rather have a Isaac and a few others over him. Hope he proves me wrong.
