I listened to Bob Stoops lengthy talk on youtube as to why he decided to retire at a relatively early age, and in a nutshell it has to do with his life plan. He's got a Natty to his name and he just wanted to move on to other things while he's still young enough, and to get out of the 100 hour a week rate race. Just no way I see him returning to coaching at any level.

IMO I'm not going to be surprised if Mark hangs it up early like Bob did. He's getting into off field stuff like distillery & horses. And the new evolution of the sport with portal & NIL drags down old school types like him.

The announcer from the Blue White game, Mike Morgan, talked on his podcast (JC & Morgan, highly recommend) about meeting with Stoops prior. Said he looked exhausted, asked him if it was from Spring drills & Mark said no. he was tired from dealing with all the new non football crap.
