Mike Leach is done

Not shocked at all. Taking his poor recruiting out of Texas was his death knell. I bet this is the last year he ever coaches football again. He won't be a coordinator, won't get hired to run a big program. He'll go be captain Ron down in the Bahamas.

Wow, what a train wreck he's turned out to be. And to think some were clamoring for him to be our head coach after Joker................

IIRC, Bill Moos (WSU AD) has extended his contract every year, and if they were to fire him this year, they would owe him 5 million. For an athletic department that is currently in the red, that's pretty damn unlikely. After so many other schools took a pass on him, the Pirate finally found a patsy in Washington St. His antics might be endearing when he is winning, but rub people the wrong way when things are going South. I saw some highlights from the Portland St game, and their tiny stadium looked less than half full on opening day.

jury is still out on Stoops, but I remembered all those on hear just ripping Mitch for not going after Leach and Petrino.

I wouldn't put Petrino and Leach in the same arguement. Leach is a bit of a gimmick side show act but Petrino is a legitimate high level coach...albeit a drunk, two faced, poor motorcycle riding adultering piece of crap...but a really good coach.

I think Petrino would have had us competing at a higher level then we are right now. Stoops hasn't proven anything quite yet and he's still developing as a head man.

Lol. Several on this board wouldn't shut up about Leach and how we should have hired him. Doubt they'll own up to it but the way things have worked out with Leach, kind of proves what most rational people thought at the time.... Hiring Leach would be idiotic.

WSU will be an interesting team to watch. Will they fold or come back fighting? They play 5 ranked teams and play at Washington. The game I'm most interested in is against California. Leach vs Dykes. Both were tossed around by fans as a possible choice as the next UK coach.

Ok I will man up . Guilty as charged . I wanted Leach or Spurrier when they hired MB and Leach again when they hired Joker and leach again when they hired Stoops.

I do think we made a great hire in Stoops and eventually it will work out. Still need more quality numbers but he is on the right track.

Lots of arguments over Leach here a few years back. Lots of crow for those willing to man up. The dink and dunk/soft football had its day, but teams adjusted. To be successful you better add the ability to run it, and be at least 60/40. College fb hasn't changed much in over 100 years: if you run it best, you probably win.

Agree and I will add to what you say that I believe who controls the LOS will win almost every time. until we have a line that can block for the running game and a defensive line that can both stop the run and pressure the passer I don't think it makes any difference how many so called "skill position players" we have stockpiled .

Yep, that buyout is going to be way too much. Moos used to be the AD at Oregon and isn't any longer for a reason. They were a 31 point favorite over PSU and have a tough schedule this year.
