I listed out the staff below to try and see any trends. Robic has already been pointed out. What was it that he brought that ended up being the big difference?
Furthermore, I found it interesting what Cal's record was at Memphis pre and post Robic. Prior to Robic joining it was NIT, NIT, 1st Round, 2nd Round, and NIT. After Robic it was Elite 8, Elite 8, Runner Up, and Sweet Sixteen.
Even more interesting, if you go back to Cal's UMass days, guess who was an assistant every year UMass made the tournament...Robic.
Every Elite 8 that Cal coached, Robic was an assistant.
I knew Robic was an issue but I never looked deep enough to see this goes back to the 80s.
Robic's record as a head coach is 58-113.
