May 2nd at theMGM Grand, with a $250 million dollar purse.

Still the biggest fight to be made; money on this fight alone will eclipse a year of UFC - not knocking MMA - just a different game.

I have believed all along that Floyd is a tough out but if anyone can do it it will be Manny.

This would've been an amazing fight in 2007. Mayweather played it smart, ducking Pac during his prime and just fighting cans to decisions. Unfortunately, Mayweather probably takes this fight if it ends up happening.

Sure - because boxing has been a martial art for 130+ years and UFC has been airing since mid '90s...boxing is shuddering in worry.

Boxing will be OK as long as two men are willing to step forward under Marquees of Queensbury rules...no last prize...martial arts have been relative since before the before the gladiators and will remain so after we spend our last $$$

You're the one comparing Boxing/UFC. I find them to be two separate entities. WWE/UFC are closer than UFC/Boxing.

Can you name a prize fight people are willing to pay $59.99 ($69.99 HD) after this one? The Boxing PPV industry is ruled by one cash cow: Mayweather Promotions. The Don King day's are over...boxers pick their own fights for their own belts. No one is going to rise with a surplus amount of promotions and meaningless belts. Hence, why boxing hasn't produced a money draw in a decade. These two are it.

We can agree to disagree...there are always good young fighters coming up; I don't believe boxing will ever relive its heyday but there is still big money for the right combination of fighters.

Look at Alvarez for instance; a good young fighter whose best fights are still ahead of him. There will be more.

And I totally agree that boxing and MMA are two distinct things; other than being honest combat it is the rules that sets them apart.

Anyway - I would like to see the fight happen as they may be past their prime but both are still capable of beating most anyone and its the best match to be made.

Manny is treated like a god in Philippines. May weather will be fighting for himself were as manny will be fighting for his country. Manny is a true gentleman and does so much for the very poor people in his country it would be hard to not hope he wins.

Morales v Barerra were great fights. But nothing, at least in my mind, tops Ward v Gatti I. Their first fight was truly spectacular, in particular the 9th round. Best round of boxing in the history of the sport.

I would argue that Canelo is still going to bring decent PPV numbers, but as a whole I agree that people aren't going to pay 60 bucks for a fight. I think the boxing industry knows this, which is why the sport is coming back to primetime cable TV via Premier Boxing Champions.

There are still a ton of great fighters out there. Cotto has looked great since he has started working with Freddie Roach. Danny Garcia....Andre Ward.....lots of talent.

The guy who is going to deliver the next Ward v. Gatti type war is Golovkin--the guy has so much power, crushing body shots, and a great chin--just need to find someone who can hang with him. Murray was tough, but still got crushed.
