If Willis and Poy are both out for multiple games Matthews will have to play meaningful minutes on defense and grab a few rebounds.

Poor Matthews. I love the kid. But he is struggling right now on offense and defense. I'm hoping our guys get healthy and hopefully he can contribute in small ways, and then he can develop for next year.

No he shouldn't play at all...Hawkins is way better
Don't understand why Hawk didn't get more minutes tonight. He made his only 3 pointer (best as I recall) in the first half, but didn't see any action until late in the 2nd half.

I don't think they can afford to have another non-shooter on the floor. If you've got Matthews on the floor with Briscoe and what's left healthy of the front court, we're back to Ulis and Murray having to jack up 50 shots a game in the middle of a clogged up paint. At least Maulder will force a defender to respect him out on the floor.

Matthews has been a disappointment too. Not nearly as much as Skal but he hasn't progressed at all. The one thing he was supposed to be consistent at was his defensive ability. That hasn't happened. He tries to block everything taking himself out of position for rebounds. I think he'll eventually be a contributor but not much, if any, this year.

Calipari said post game that Willis ankle was "really bad". But with Calipari, he never gives straight answers about injuries.
Thanks. I had to record the game, so I was late finding out about it. I hope he's ok, we are just now getting into our most important games.

Yea that is what we need yet another player that cannot put the ball in the basket. He is not a defensive freak either. Hawkins the Mulder should be the choice.

Matthews rebounds better than Hawk and that's the dilemma but he needs a year in the weightroom and pattern his game after MKG. He has the frame. He needs to get confidence in his dribble. Jumps well. Nervous right now.
