Max Smith apparently calls it a career....

Good for him. He had no shot to compete against Towles, Barker and Phillips. He had talent but his arm/shoulder had to be just ground meat. Hope he stays around on our staff.

The guy gave it his all here, BBN will always have his back. Hope nothing but the best for him.

I wish this kid nothing but the best. He's a grinder and as tough as anyone. Thank you Max for your contribution to the UK football program.

Yeah kudos for Max for going all in for this program and sticking it out as long as his health and physical ability allowed him...

No sense in permanently damaging yourself...

I think his presence, maturity, knowledge and experience can be a plus for this staff and group of players as they all grow together...

Let him help out with QBs and directing the scout teams...

Got his degree in Dec, good move by him. Maybe he'll come back in 15 yrs as UK's HC.

Out of all the guys who played QB at UK, he was one of them.

Seriously though, he gave it his best effort and left his body out on the field, and we thank him for that. Hope he can stick around and learn from some great coaches.

Think he is going to transfer and play out his career. He would be immediately eligible as a grad student. I could see him landing at TROY with Coach Brown

Max; Congratulations on getting your degree and good luck with whatever you decide to do now and in the future. Go Cats!!

We really need to sign a QB in this class now. 3 QB's is dangerously thin. Just ask UL.

If you ask Lulzville, they'll say 8 QB's would be too thin.

Have to wonder if Barker beats out Towles in the spring if he or Phillips might move on leaving us with just two QB's That would be a recipe for disaster.

People don't understand that Smith had/has an injury that prevented him from competing. He wasn't available last year either.

Transferring out west to play college ball in California from what I have heard.

I hope he goes somewhere and lights it up, but I'm afraid the signs all point to that arm/shoulder just being done. He definitely put it all on the line for this program and handled the injuries, depth chart, QB rotating and everything else with pure professionalism. Shame it didn't work out better for him.

On our side, doesn't change a lot. We already just had 3 QBs because he wasn't able to play anyway.

San Diego State.

My mistake. When I read the statement immediately after he tweeted it, it sounded to me like retirement.

I appreciate Max and thank him for giving us all he had.

My favorite memory of him is not seeing Morgan Newton on the field.

Pretty high level program, I wish him the best, he deserves it, took a lot of hard knocks here and came back for more.

Good luck to Max a fine young man and I appreciate his time as a WILDCAT! Wish him the best at SDSU.

Ditto hope he goes out there and plays, really enjoyed Max seems like a great young man!

Would love for him to come back after this fall for a GA position as QB coach.....he says his goal is to become a head coach in the SEC. He strikes me as the type of kid who sets a goal, and achieves it. Wish him well.

I believe that it's very plausible we could lose a QB to transfer this year.

Hope he puts up huge numbers at San Diego State and then come back to be a GA at KY. Kid is all heart and took some big licks, played hurt etc.
