Vince said this in the preseason. The tight ends have combined for 11 catches and 2 TDs in half the season. Three of those games were against cupcakes. Hope it picks up. The offense needs everybody playing better besides Ray.

The second biggest head scratcher next to Leary's struggles. Preseason we're loaded!! And to make us even more loaded Cummings was back and maybe even our best option now that he was back with Coen, but . . . now nowhere to be seen. Just ton head scratchers on the offensive side with no explanation.

Maybe he meant they had nice butts and he could not lie.

In all seriousness, just something else that was all talk.

Make it a point to throw to them, assuming they have the ability to get open.

1. I like Vince....we need Vince. But he says stuff as part of his schtick....and this one of those moments.....OUr TE are not and have never been that talented (i.e...the CJ Conrad is amazing days, Keaton Upshaw is bigtime receiver, etc...). He'll be saying the same thing when Anderson/Rodriguez will be the main TE.
2. UK runs the clock and we always are bottom in terms of plays per game stats. We don't go tempo, we run over 50% of the time, etc...so our style will not be conducive to receiving stats. RB....now that is another story.
3. We are forcing balls to Brown which takes away looks to rest of group. Then Key needs to get balls and Tayvion needs to work the middle....so there will only be so many balls to TE to go round.

Only about 2 drops from that group this year? I hope we throw more to them

Dingle had two drops in one game and I know he had another couple in other games.

Cummings had two drops on big plays early.

What's frustrating is kattus is by far the most dependable and productive, yet the least talented. If we can get Dingle putting on his hard hat like kattus, dingle would be a 1-3 round pick for sure

TEs having to stay in pass protection way more than should be due to OL being unable to protect the QB long enough for the "shot" plays we are always trying to run, instead of running the quick passing game from the shotgun formation.

The TE are literally not available to catch a pass on most plays we run.

That needs to change ASAP. The pro style offense is not our Forte. We do not have the talent to run it successfully.

I think every position group but his has had a player drafted since Stoops got here. Glorified hype man/recruiter. Love the guy and worth his weight in gold for recruiting. Not an SEC caliber coach.

Dude your making up crap…there are times with a loaded wisely leave a TE to pick up blitz…/but vast majority of passes I see is five Oline and Ray Davis blocking and TE csn get into routes

Lol. I didn't say they stayed in to pass block ALL THE TIME. Dude, you're just making up crap....

How is "Having to stay in to pass block way more than they should be" any different than your version of "there are times.....garble, garble, LEAVE A TE TO PICK UP BLITZ?"

Word salad and symantics.

Talk to the HC&OC. Not on big dog

They can't catch it when it doesn't get thrown to them.
We always blame whoever the UK OC is when the TEs don't get catches. Five OCs later (Brown, Dawson, Gran, Coen, That One Guy, and Coen again) they still don't get catches. I'm gonna talk to the guy responsible for their individual development after a decade. OC's tell QBs to throw to who can get open...they like those $850k/year jobs and want to keep them presumably. TEs can't get open they won't get catches.

Sorry but I can drink the Kool-Aid for only so long. Vince is a great recruiter but he makes that aspect of his job harder on himself by not developing that position after NSD.

The point is...our TE don't stay in to block hardly a significant percentage of the time. They are in routes but the balls go to Brown (I suppose to keep him from acting like a diva), Tayvion, Dane and then Ray Davis.

To have all the WR with 21, 20 and 16 receptions but your top TE has 6.....that is scheme and coaching. Hell we run two TE sets all the time and they still can't get more than 1-2 balls a game to TE.

Whether they aren't getting open or that they are so far down the progression list the QB never makes it to them is up for debate. Either way you are correct they have been under utilized for a while.

You could be right re Brown and the diva thing but I'll remind all he is the only UK WR with top end speed needed to go against SEC Ds. T. Robinson/Key are OK with intermediate routes but really aren't deep threats. True freshman A. Brown looks like a middle school kid trying to go vs SEC DBs. Won't work. Crowdus is a wasted scholarship.

1. Brown has great speed and no hands…what js gained target him so much?
2. Speed is fine but you can also be quick in/out cuts to get open with our elite speed
3. And many teams play a lot of zone…so you’re hitting spots and there are series just hitting zones is an asset
4. Key has shown really good hands in past and he’s by far the best 50/50 ball guy with his vertical and ball tracking skills
5. Crowdus…it’s getting old to recruit all these speed Wr that bust in college…so either we need to develop better or stop with recruiting all the small speedy Wr kids

All 3 spot on. No reason to pay attention to what Marrow says. Everything is just a pump up it’s who he is. We’ve had 5 coordinators the pace is always the same and the TE🇬’s are going to run block mostly to be effective. Brown may be the guy with speed but laacks size and strength to be too productive where they are targeting him down field. It’s not going to stretch the defense of you don’t complete the plays.

Doesn't matter if his routes are lazy and pathetic. Then when he is open, he drops the ball as often as he catches. That's when he makes an attempt for it, because he definitely won't fight for a deep ball.

Don't get me started on his blocking, running out of bounds with noone around, and asking out after every target.

Yeah I don't get why we don't use them as pass catchers more often. Stoops is just totally averse to using the middle of the field. It drives me nuts

Poor ole Vince, when was the last time Kentucky football had a TE that was involved in the offense that was targeted more that 5 times in a game ?
The last time one was developed enough to get open against a SEC linebacker.

Some of y’all wouldn’t criticize Vince if he slept with your wife.

I said Brown was the only WR with top end speed, not that he always used it wisely. I have problems with Brown too, his drops and lazy route running. I guess Stoops/Coen are hoping Brown can repeat '22's GA game.

2 tings I have noticed. 1 TE is rarely the primary in our offense abs QB rarely has time to look for a tertiary reciever. 2 Or TEs rarely use middle of field which is where most of our opponents use them

I’d predict a mass exodus of this group to the portal and for good reason. Bates should have moved on after last season. Let these younger more talented guys get those minutes and opportunities.

I swear if Travis Kelce was on the team the coaching staff would still underutilize him.
I guarantee you he would be blocking or in pass protection the majority of the snaps OR he wouldn't play for CMS......

To be fair we don’t run enough plays to get players the ball. Ray has to get touches brown and key are going to get their targets. That’s doesn’t even include Trob. Add in the fact that we are extremely inefficient and I’m not sure where they get touches from

Our offense isn't efficient enough to spread the ball around. Until we get better QB play and stop dropping passes, there's nothing that can be done.

See, id say they prioritize getting the ball in the hands of their playmakers even if they only ran 30 plays per game. The TEs aren’t playmakers which is my original point.
