Hello everybody. We did not have our usual Monday press luncheon with Mark Stoops since it's the open date on the schedule, but the UK boss will still be doing his weekly radio show tonight. I'll post all the main news and notes here for those who are not able to follow along live...

* Stoops says the open date will offer the Cats to just watch film today and have meetings. They had the afternoon and evening off, for the most part, to rest up and get some more treatment. They'll have three good days of work the rest of the week. Thursday is usually a walk-thru, but they'll have a good, full practice that day, then spend the weekend getting their bodies right for game week vs. MSU.

* They'll do some good vs. good this week, "fastball," as Stoops referred to it, to keep the guys sharp.

* Watching film of the UGA game was "kinda frustrating," Stoops said, because they did so many good things but also had quite a few mistakes. Any mistakes were magnified because you're playing against such a fantastic opponent.

* Some weird stats. UGA had 19 plays go for 2 yards or less and 19 for 10 yards or more. "That's not good," Stoops said of the latter. There were plays where they had the guy at the point of attack, and he reeled off a big run.

* The failure to get on the fumble was frustrating, Stoops said. Very simple thing to do.

* Stoops says TE Izayah Cummings was in a sling today at the JCFTC. "We'll see." Things look good for WR Josh Ali's return against MSU. Marquan McCall still questionable.

* The kicks were ugly, Stoops said. "No excuse for it."

* Opponents had been in the UGA red zone only 8 times in 6 games this year, scoring just 1 TD. The Cats drove there 3 times and scored 2 TDs. Something to feel good about.

* Stetson Bennett was a lot more impressive in person than on film, Stoops said. Some of the throws were extremely accurate, on-time, difficult throws. And the TE, Brock Bowers, is one of the best young guys at that position that Stoops has seen.

* Fall on the loose ball and convert your easy kicks, and that's 11 points difference, Stoops notes.

* "We still have a lot of special things in front of us," Stoops says. "We just have to get back to work."

* Georgia was arguably one of the best front 7s that he's ever seen, Stoops said. "Absolutely dominant."

* Caller praised Stoops for the Cats' composure with the hostile crowd. Stoops agreed.

* Caller asks if there's some consideration to move Drennen back to WR... Stoops says it's a tough call. There's only one football, but you have to be aware of things these days with the portal. Notes that Drennen asked to move back to RB. "We love him. Want him to continue to mature and come along." RB JuTahn McClain is a little banged up after Saturday, so that's something that always comes into play at that position.

* Caller asks what LB Jared Casey needs to do to get more PT... Stoops says he's working hard, doing good things on special teams, but some really good people ahead of him on the depth chart. He's just got to continue to work on himself and increase his value. "Make us play you."

* Caller asks about the spot that the SEC review crew botched... Stoops says he can't understand it or comment about it. Hasn't gotten a response back from the league. "I don't understand. It was short. I think anyone could see that." But he also adds that he can't comment when the league lets him know regardless. Kinda tongue-in-cheek referenced that they're busy with other things right now. (UT cough cough)

* Levis going 32 of 42 against that defense (with 5 or 6 drops) was really impressive, Stoops said. They obviously want more yards, but it's hard to get chunk plays against those guys. He handled the pressure well the entire game. Stoops says the ball Levis threw to Robinson in the end zone was a good throw. Wan'Dale landed funny, or he would have scored. Just hit the wrong way and couldn't control it.

* Caller asks about why Chris Rodriguez had such a low touch total... Stoops says he was a little banged up but also just ineffective, and not all because of him. "That was tough sledding."

* About the final touchdown... "Why in the world would anyone think that was a controversy?" ... "They tried to stop every play, and we tried to score every play." Stoops concedes that there are probably some gamblers who were frustrated by that.

* Stoops says DL are playing their tail off. "Josh Paschal could play for any defensive line in the country." McCall and Oxendine were both playing really well when they went down.

* Stoops jokes that his mom critiques play calls as much as BBN does. They talk before every game. She's tough on him. LOL
