Marcus Lee?

The injury was so bad, that he required a head transplant. It'll take awhile getting used to John Travolta's head on Lee's body.

Perhaps sensing the anxiety in the BBN over Marcus Lee’s head injury, the Kentucky Basketball Twitter account just sent out this picture of a smiling Lee on the plane ride home with the caption, “Rest assured, #BBN, @JustMarcusLee is A-OK. Headed back to Lexington.”

Kentucky probably wins if he doesn't get knocked out of the game. There were lots of times when the momentum could have swung with a couple defensive stops and a lob to Lee. Take him out, add Skal disappearing and Poythress just having a terrible game, and those moments slipped away.
Yep

Not to mention a handful of terrible offensive rebounds that we let them grab and convert, at absolutely the worst moments.

I'm talking 50/50 balls (if not 60/40 in our favor) that Lee very likely grabs if he's in there.

I imagine film review of this one wasn't pretty.

One of the things that people are missing with Lee's injury is the psychological aspect. If this team is a band of brothers - then they were worried about their brother, and it probably affected their game. Think about it - Lee has a nosebleed and a severe headache for some unknown (at the time) reason. They didn't know what was going on. Then, too - just like when Ulis was out against ISU - it threw them off to not have Lee in the rotation. We do have a large number of freshmen, and this is something they have to learn to adjust to.

I will say we should have won that game against UCLA. It's understandable why we did not - but as I said in other thread, Cal himself admitted he got out-coached that one game and that the most of the rest of the team didn't play with effort and energy. That doesn't mean I'm bashing Cal or the team - this is something that will be fixed. If they learn from this game, then it ends up being all to the good

Would we have won with Lee? Maybe.
Would we have won with Lee and a healthy Ulis? Absolutely.

But woulda, coulda, shoulda. Learn (Skal--act like Cousins; Poy--how could you let a 6-10 white boy block all your shots; Willis--go straight to the basket; Ulis--keep yelling at your teammates, etc) and move on.

I went back and watched the game and couldn't tell where he was hit. Maybe I missed it ...

Me too. I've played many times with a bloody nose and a headache, but that was back in the day where you were considered a wimp if you didn't get back out there unless your head was detached from your body and rolling at your feet.

This could be a great thing for Lee's draft stock. We lose when he was out and if when he returns and we go back to our winning ways, he'll get a good amount of the credit as long as he performs well.

Exactly.

Cal, I am sure, is building a fire under Skal and Poythress' butts. There is not sense in Alex playing like he did in the first half of the UCLA game.
