Sure didn't get any impression that he was considering LSU. Not one iota, in fact.

He basically said that he liked all the teams left on his list (LSU was NOT included) because they had been successful. It was a very short interview without much substance, but I was left feeling like UK is still at the top of his list.

of coarse . He is going to UK unless the twins return . This has been pretty obvious ( Newman to UK ) since he was a sophomore.

He is going to UK unless the twins return

That's my take too.

Did he list the schools, and then didn't even mention LSU?

The schools were listed and LSU was one of them, along with KU, UK, MSST, UM and UT.

Just saw on twitter, Newman posted something like folks shouldnt be trippin all over the crystal ball picks..

I personally heard him say just last week that Brisco and Simmons were good friends of his and both were trying to convince him to play at their school .So LSU is a player in this .

I don't recall seeing LSU on his list, but I could be wrong. Regardless, he specifically mentioned that he liked the teams on his list because they were highly successful or something like that. Not sure how that makes LSU a player, but who knows?

And he also mentioned that MSST was a good program. That was when I realized that interview was FOS.

Yeah, I remember that. He said they were rebuilding.....lol!....rebuilding from what?

id take the twins over newman. Im thinking next year Aaron's 3 pt shot will be above 40% for the year just like D. Millers was in his 3rd year.

Absolutely agree, 100%!

Experience + talent over a talented freshman unknown any day of the week!. Plus it builds the UK brand into more than a one-and-done factory...

For anyone (like Meyer) who is just trying to read the tea leaves, and has no real direct information from anyone close to Newman, the only "evidence" that would tend to be adverse to U.K. is the combined facts that (a) Newman has said that he wants to play PG in college, and (b) Cal has a commitment from Isaiah Briscoe. The only "evidence" that would tend to favor LSU is (a) that Simmons -- the No. 1 player in the class -- is committed to LSU and is a friend of Newman, and (b) LSU signed Blakeney, a 5-star SG, who is also a pretty good friend of Newman, and (c) LSU has no commitment from a PG.

IMHO, Meyer's speculation that Newman is headed to LSU is based solely on all of these "position situations", and nothing else.

Newman may well end up at LSU, but I highly doubt its the done deal Meyer says it is. If the kid is guaranteed to not end up at UK; why wait to commit? He doesnt seem to enjoy the process. He has committable offers at all the schools on his list, where hed start at all of them; except maybe UK.

Hes waiting to see what happens with UK's roster. Its that simple.

^^^^This....not sure how serious he is in his consideration of LSU, but he did say this. He also downplayed the Crystal Ball predictions on Twitter yesterday. Sounds like your usual recruiting rhetoric to me.

X 2 - but if we hang #9, they are gone and our guards are Ullis & Newman which will provide some serious devastation of their own.

Miss St was very tough from Cals first year to the NC in '12 and have had pretty good teams here and there. The state is pretty damn good recruiting grounds and usually guys from down there dont like to leave. Ray seems like he could get his guys at least in the upper half of the division.

If Newman wants to be a one man show at MSU, than more power to him. He seems like a smart kid though, who will base his decision on good sense, weighing all factors.

Its really simple were either gonna have juniors Harrisons or frosh Briscoe an Newman along with Ulis and i bet Booker who will move more to the 3/SF spot moving Alex to the 4/PF spot.

My bet is
pg- Ulis/Briscoe
sg- Newman/Hawkins
sf- Booker/Matthews
pf- Alex/Willis
c- Lee/Skal

- I dont think its a foregone conclusion Dakari and Willie are gone either especially Dakari.
- i also think if both leave we get a 5 star big man from this class besides Skal.
- Booker and Newman can coexist with the smaller Newman at 2g and Booker at wing/sf.

I am not impressed with LSU's coach and can't understand why any top talent would go to school there. Unless of course they are from Louisiana and are big LSU fans. But as far as I know that description does not fit Malik.

The only way the LSU coach can improve his image as a poor to average coach is to beat Arkansas or do well in the SEC tournament. Even that may not be enough. Based on is performance he is not a good coach and I doubt he would get the most out of a top ranked talent. It will be interesting to see what he does next year with Top 10 recruits.

Biggest surprise of the year to me would be if Dakari goes.

you people are crazy if you don't think skal will start next season. you people will be pleastly surprised. kid is an absolute stud. and I mean stud

No it wouldn't as he will be a first rounder . In fact i think he is more apt to leave then either Lyles or Booker but if i had to put money on it i would say Lyles , the twins , WCS and Towns go pro and Booker ,Ulis , Lee ,poy and Dakari come back .

I've seriously came to the point where I'm not worried about Cals recruiting anymore. Rankings mean jack. If Cal don't get a guy,big deal. He will get mostly who he wants and will get more out of his freshmen than other coaches. His system and record prove that. Trust in Cal. Would love Newman to come but if not, oh well.

If the NCAA allows him to see the floor

Ditto on Skal he outplayed Towns a couple years ago. IN fact i think his game translates like KT's, maybe not as good as post player right now but similar.

That's a pretty good list, but it would be really hot with the Georgia forward added.

I like the Ingram kid from NC too.

I haven't been worried about Cal's recruiting since John Wall signed up.

I'm so glad I don't have to follow this recruiting stuff anymore. These kids love the attention and string fanbases along until the last possible minute. It's crazy stressful when you are in a position where you really need a particular player. Thanks to Cal, the recruiting stuff is much more fun. I don't really follow any of it until a day or two before the announcement date. If he picks the Cats, great. If not, Cal will find another elite recruit to take his place.

1996.

Actually they won the conference championship in 2004 and the tourney in 2002 and 2009 since the 96 final four team.

Skal won't start early. He has barely played in almost two years! He was out a whole year with back injury then deemed ineligible by state of Tennessee so he had to be on a team made up by hamilton. They haven't played a full slate and he hasn't been coached by a real coach in two, years.

If skal, starts it will be probably after the non conference next year. Coach payne will have to work with him and get him on college level
