Malachi Moreno 26 points, 22 rebounds

Malachi Moreno reminds me a little of Sam Bowie. They are built similar, more finesse players, with deceptive strength. Bowie was more skilled on the perimeter at this point, but Moreno is a little thicker physically. Bowie would have been perfect for Pope's offense, a Point Center, who can shoot with range. I haven't seen Moreno shoot outside much in what little I've watched him, but seems like a really good fit. Right in our backyard, kind of like Clingan was for UConn.

Interesting, I never saw Bowie play, didn't realize he had an outside game.

We can only hope he's as good as Sam.
Problem is people as good as Sam go pro after one.

I remember Bowie having a baseline jumper that always seemed to surprise defenders - great shot blocker & easy target for an alley oop from ANYWHERE

I believe there are videos of UK guards throwing alley oops to Bowie from mid court right after winning the opening tip off (vs Kansas in fact?)

Love hearing this comparison and can't wait to see MM suit up for UK!!!

Before his leg injury, Bowie was a very good shooter for a big man. He had range and was comfortable playing outside. After his injury, his shot was not the same. Seemed like his mechanics and form were different. He just never was the same.

Memory kind of foggy but seems like the opening tip lob play started the NCAA game at Rupp against Duke. Wasn’t a lob but a pass and missed layup by Sam and UK never led in the game. Freddie Cowan heroics led to late tie but bogus foul call for Banks FT and then Macy? Shot at the buzzer down 1 no good

Remains foggy but what I recall at the moment
