With one player from each of Cal's teams while at UK.

Here is mine:

John Wall
Brandon Knight
Anthony Davis
Nerlens Noel
James Young
Karl Anthony-Towns
Jamal Murray

What's the context? To play other all star teams from NCAA? To play in the NBA?

In any case:
Davis
Cousins
Wall
Patterson
Knight
Young
Liggins

Guys, you're not allowed to have two players from the same year :p

At the NCAA level. More or less I was thinking about how scary a team one could build with only one player from each year.

I think Doron Lamb would have to be considered. Deadly from 3.

I realize he's not up there with some of these other guys but most teams need that bullseye shooter from deep.

So, even though I love Knight, Id go with Lamb for that year. Plus Wall is the PG already.

Its a good problem to have.

Cousins
Knight
Davis
Poythress
Randle
Booker
Murray

I needed the extra F, why I took Poy over Noel; and the G why I took Booker over Towns. Was tempted to take Ulis over Murray.

So I'm starting
Cousins
Davis
Randle
Booker
Knight

with Murray & Poythress (preferably the version that played vs Duke as a FR) coming off the bench.

Starting
Wall
Knight
MKG
Cauley Stein
Towns

Off the bench
Murray
Randle

A little weak on the shooting, but Wall can at least make an open three and Murray and Knight are pretty good. Defensively they would be so good they would be scoring all the time in transition. Murray and Randle, given their defensive weaknesses, would just be scoring spark plugs off the bench.

Cousins and Wall were on the same team. Could only pick ONE from each team.

I agree with you on that. I had a tough time picking between Lamb and Knight. I originally had went with Lamb but thought having 2 good point guards and one who can shoot is a good problem to have.

Nerlens Noel
James Young
Karl Anthony-Towns
Jamal Murray
It's hard because if you just take the best player from each team you have all point guards & centers. I'd probably sub T. Jones for Knight on your list & leave the rest.

I see where you're coming from. That's why I took Young over Randle to have another good SF. But I can't argue taking Jones over Knight. Really, with all the talent we've had, it's hard to argue any line up with at least a little thought behind it.

Cousins

Starters
Cuz, Randle, MKG, Booker, Murray

Subs
Noel, Lamb

Most are going to take Davis, for obvious reasons, but we have other phenomenal options for big men and few great small forwards. That being said:

2010: John Wall
2011: Doron Lamb
2012: MKG
2013: Noel
2014: Julius Randle
2015: KAT
2016: Jamal Murray

Bring Murray and Noel off the bench. Always have a great shooter on the floor, and can play Murray and Lamb together to bust zones. Lots of low post scoring with Randle and KAT. Looks like a very balanced lineup.

Man I hate to leave off AD, the best player of the whole era, but that is a really good and balanced lineup.

I really like this line up. For nearly any other program it would be impossible to leave a guy like Davis off the list. We are fortunate to be where we are right now.

You and I were thinking alike. I couldn't stand to leave MKG off.

I actually like your lineup better overall, with the caveat being that if Booker is hot, you probably lose in a one game scenario.

These lineups are indicative of a common trend throughout Cal's tenure at UK. No true "3" in any lienups.

It's the one position that we don't consistently recruit elite talent. Anyone can understand taking AD over MKG, but it's tough to leave either off that list. MKG is the only elite small forward Cal has recruited.

Here's another:

Wall
Liggins
AD
Noel
Randle
Booker
Murray

That team is nasty all over.

12 - Davis
15 - Towns
11 - Lamb
16 - Murray
10 - Wall

14 - Young
13 - Noel

Adding MKG to the team in place of Davis is intriguing, but I couldn't leave off the best player ever at Kentucky in good conscience. Instead, I decided to go with a 3 guard look capable of spreading the court. Excellent rim protection and rebounding from the 4 and 5 positions helps to compensate for potential defending issues from the guards.

[laughing]

Love when instructions are laid out for these things and people completely ignore em.

Good Lord...far be it for me to upset your world while I was in here multitasking...there do you feel all better now?

Knight - 11
Murray - 16
KAT - 15
Cousins - 10
Davis - 12

Noel - 13
Randle - 14

Team/Player:
2010-John Wall
2011-DeAndre Liggins
2012-Darius Miller
2013-Nerlens Noel
2014-Julius Randle
2015-Karl Anthony-Towns
2016-Jamal Murray

Rotation:
PG-John Wall
SG-Jamal Murray
SF-DeAndre Liggins
PF-Julius Randle
C-Karl Anthony-Towns
SG/SF-Darius Miller
PF/C-Nerlens Noel
