A look in the mirror and be honest with what it shows….. 1) The UK men’s Basketball is terrible and has been terrible except for the fox/monk/adebayo year since 2015. We have a losing record against top 25 teams in that time frame and have not sniffed a final four either. The team has been consistently mismanaged and put together every except the one year I mentioned. A significant weakness is always present. Lack of bench coaching with the talent levels is hardly a “gold standard”. The lifetime contract was rewarded during this significant downturn we have seen since 2015 in the programs success. (Cal’s record is worse than tubby’s during the same span and we were all clamoring for tubby to be fired)
2) women’s basketball has hired a coach who the job is probably above her “readiness”.
3) the baseball coach is kept on despite their downward spiral since the program was going to the NCAA under the coach who left for MSU. Just exactly like Gillespie was in the Men’s Basketball program. (Interesting fact Barnhart never called the AD about Gillespie which would have revealed the seriousness of his drinking problem-no due diligence)
4) a lifetime contract given again this time to stoops when problems/results were showing on the field again. At least stoops fired 2 of the weak links. More should have as some have pointed out.
5) the NIL fiasco by the athletic department.
6) if we seriously want championships in basketball and football and baseball etc are we gonna get them on the path all are being ran.
Frustrated watching the men’s basketball program fail at this level especially with what we expect and accustomed too especially paying a coach 9.5 million a year.
