I don't know what he will do as a play caller, but I love his confidence and laid back personality. I coached three years under one of Kentucky's winningest high school coaches and he had this same mentality. Cocky, confident, calm, and laid back. He could get crazy intense when the moment needed it but he was always in control. I get that same vibe from Dawson. He will be a head coach one day soon.

I think he and Neal Brown will one day be very successful head coaches. He already has a pretty impressive resume and UK will just add to it. I just hope we can get 3 years out of him before someone comes calling for him!

No reason we caant pony up and keep him.
I'm not sure UK is ready to start paying it's co-ordinators head coach type money. However, I think that day is coming! Firmly believe you reward the guys who get you over the hump. While the head coach is certainly the key, it seems more and more obvious that whatever the weakness is in your head coach's ability needs to be addressed with a very strong and eventually well paid co-ordinator. Not calling anyone out here, but it is obvious from Coach Stoops background that the offensive co-ordinator has to be really good. The other thing I have never understood is how super recruiter's are not paid accordingly! In every business I know, the best sales people are also the highest paid people - and the reason is always obvious - without them you would have no business! Just look at the difference one Vince Marrow "appears" to have made to Kentucky's recruiting. I use the word "appears" because I don't really know the true recruiting affect of Coach Stoops himself in Ohio. Regardless, I think Coach Stoops knows Vince Marrow's benefit and I fully believe Coach Marrow has a job as long as Coach Stoops has a job.

If a coordinator has the itch to be a head coach it isn't about the money. UGA is paying their OC more than Bobo, our ex OC, is getting for being the head coach at Colorado State.

LOLS Grumpy, Kentucky doesn't pay co-ordinators like Georgia does! I agree if a guy wants to be a head coach, but some guys may not want or be cut out to be a head coach - look at Wil in Auburn now. $1.5 million and a lot of guys would be happy to be a co-ordinator for sure.

i got a feeling that we would match any sane offer. we wouldn't do a grantham and over pay by $300000 to get/keep a guy but we'd likely match or come close to matching any offer outside of 10 or so schools.

Eh. He has given me no reason to think he can't do a great job, but he has given me no reason to think he will do a great job either. I look forward to seeing him call plays and to see how he got the players to buy into his system, but anything more than that is conjecture at this point.
