Lost the all-time wins lead under Cal, got it back when KU forfeited games, and Cal's about to lose it again

Could be tied as soon as next Saturday.

UK:

home against Ole Miss and away at Auburn this week
Next week @LSU and home vs Alabama

Kansas:

@T-Tech and @Oklahoma then the following week
home against Texas and BYU

Just wait. We'll suddenly start hearing about all-time win percentage again after the win lead is gone.
It's because it's a more accurate measuring stick in terms of overall program success. In the case of winning percentage, Kansas really isn't even that close to Kentuck, having played well over 100 more games. All-Time wins is just a sexier stat. No reason we shouldn't have both though. Thanks, CCC.

I agree, but I honestly never heard anybody mention win percentage until Kentucky lost the wins lead. It's like a "yeah, but!" stat to me to make up for Kansas overtaking UK. TBH, the fact that Kentucky has the wins lead despite playing 100 games less is what makes this program awesome. Losing that is like losing something special (that sounds suspicious out of context, lol).

Worst bench coach in the history of Kentucky Basketball.

No one actually debates that though except for Kentucky fans. Go ask a Kansas fan if they care. What matters is all time wins. The fact is we're about to forfeit it for the second time in just a few years. It's unforgivable.

Maybe so, but it's not the measuring stick most of the country talks about. Even UK fans almost never did UNTIL we lost the all time wins lead.

And, of course, win percentage can also be highly misleading because level of competition can vary vastly. For example, there've been several decades when schools like UNLV and Gonzaga had the highest win percentage only because they played in crappy mid-major conferences.

And, frankly, UK's percentage has benefitted from that also because in the SEC before the mid 70s ...when it was a lily white league where only UK cared about BB ...the rest of the conference was generally known for being weak as hell. For nearly the entire Rupp era the SEC season was basically known as "UK's annual cakewalk."

We are just a bunch of red neck hillbillies in his eyes…. Cal keeps cashing those 9 million a year checks he doesn’t give a shit what we think he never has and never will.

The all-time winning percentage is great, but it pales in comparison to the simple statistic that is All-time Wins.
1) itis no penalty for a team for playing baseketball longer than you, if anything it adds to their legacy
2) most importantly, all time winning percentage is a derived statistic it had dependencies and convolutions to its determination

Great points and agree... however, I think we will still own the all-time wins record going into next season.... they have a much, much tougher end of the season stretch than we do. If they get it this year it will be due to a good tournament run... but we may actually gain 3-4 games on them to end the conference season.

I'm not disagreeing with any of that. But all-time wins can be just as disingenuous in this conversation with Kansas playing in well over 100 more games. With Kansas having a lifetime of good basketball, and playing in a weak conference as well, you'd think they'd have 50-75 more wins all-time than Kentucky.
