Lon Krueger

Nothing sexy about him, but he is a very good coach. Remember he took UF to the final four in 94.

Very good coach and has always had a competitive team wherever he coached in college. Didn't like some of his comments about UK's style of play under Pitino but other than that he seems to be a class act.

Don't remember what he said about UK under Pitino. Would you mind elaborating?

He complained on several occasions about UK's teams (under Pitino at the time) being allowed to "play defense with their hands". First time I remember him complaining was after a beat down at Gainesville. A few years later he really got upset after Florida blew an 18 point lead in the first half against UK. That team (Florida) had Demetrius Hill and Andrew Leclerc? Not sure about his last name and went to the FF that year.

Did I dream it or didn't Ayers or Shows T Cal up in one of those games from across the floor? There was even another ref there close to Cal who saw nothing. It was one of those WTH just happened moments that just didn't make sense.

Thank you Sir. I remember that UF team, they were pretty tough. As previously mentioned, Kruger's teams are never flashy but play their tails off on both ends. Really became a fan of his teams scrappy play when he was at UNLV. I think his son was the starting point guard. They were rarely more talented than the opponent but would almost always be the aggressor and you knew they were coming to play.

Probably get some push back on this, but strictly in terms of style of play his teams remind me of Donnie Tyndall's teams. Both guys tended to get the most out of not overly talented but athletic players. Especially on the defensive end.

Didn't he play at Kansas State under Jack Hartman, for the old timers? His style of ball while he was at Florida was very similar to that of Hartman's, who was a very successful coach. He played a deliberate style of ball and his teams were known for defensive toughness. However, doesn't seem as if he plays the same style now that he's at OU.
