LOL Eric Crawford was hanging on to the Scott Drew dream

Scott Drew isn't leaving Baylor for anything less than a Blue Blood, and at this point he may not even leave for that.

Hindsight being 20/20, he may be one of the best hires in relatively modern times.

I'd put him up there with Jay Wright, Billy Donovan, and Mark Few. Dudes who built nationally relevant programs, could've taken bigger blue blood gigs but didn't. Billy D left, thank god, but for the pros. Dude would most likely have a couple more conference titles, multiple deep runs and probably 1 more big banner at this point had he stayed.

Scott Drew is 20 years in. He's built a basketball program that can make post season runs. He has a title. He doesn't need to go anywhere. Money was maybe an argument 15 years ago, but anymore thanks to the TV/mass media/internet/streaming explosions, P5 programs can pay dudes. Don't have to be "blue blood" in anything to pay top dollar.

Not sure who the the next coach at UL will be. However, I fully expect them to be the gift that keeps on giving to all of us for years to come.

Nah we don’t want UCLA to hire a coach who can actually win a title
I think maybe they meant UCLA might go after Cal then. I picked Cronin as UL's next coach when Payne was fired. Unfortunately, UL is partly to blame for all of these raises/extensions for a number of coaches. It will make it harder for us if we lucked into Cal being gone after the season. Some of the best options will cost to much to get. Especially if Cal were fired and gets a huge chunk of money already. I doubt Mitch would also pay a big buyout for the next coach. We're likely stuck with Cal for a few more years.

Dusty May is option #2 with Drew staying at Baylor (which everyone but Louisville fans knew would happen). This isn't the large metropolis some would have you believe so it's easy to get a read on how the Louisville fanbase feels. Cronin would bring donors back because they're the same ones who gave money during the Pitino years but his personality sucks and he'd be a dick to the local media. That's okay if you're winning but he ain't winning now. He's seen as a minor step up from Mack. I know Louisville fans desperately want this big splash hire like being the program that brings Donovan or Wright back but that's never going to happen. Personally, one of my dream scenarios is Drew turns them down, whoever they hire next is a failure, and if Cal leaves in a couple years, Drew says yes to us and we're off to the races again.

Why would anyone want to go somewhere that just shit on one of their own after only 2 seasons where he wasn't give a fair shake.

Yep. I was surprised to hear him use the word “we” when talking about the ul fanbase.

I guess I thought he was still portraying himself as an objective independent journalist. My bad
Rick Bozich is a clown but at least he hides his love for IU pretty well and is pretty nuetral in his articles. Crawford doesn’t even try to hide that he is UL fan boy.

He loves life at Baylor and U of L would be a step down

I thought Drew might be a possibility for them but the wish list for UofL was and is honestly so completely unrealistic it's hilarious. I keep hearing Donovan or Wright from them and yeah, that's not gonna happen.

30 or so years ago, they'd have those corny "Bloopers and Practical Jokes" show and they used to do this thing like they do with "The Voice" where they'd have a C or D-list celebrity dressed up in a costume and using a voice synthesizer when they talked so the audience would have to guess who was in the costume based on the clues they were given. The particular episode I was watching had someone dressed in a Napoleon costume and this dumb audience was yelling out names like "Is it Jack Nicholson?" , " Is it Robert Redford?", "Is It Robert DeNiro?", and I'm thinking you f-king morons, do you think Jack Nicholson is gonna do this crappy TV show dressed up in a Napoleon costume???

The person in the costume was Sally Struthers. Louisville will have to end up hiring the coaching equivalent of Sally Struthers.

They are finally starting to accept it won't be Drew, Donovan or Wright. Now it's more like Shaheen Holloway or Pat Kelsey. ;)
