...have started threads and pushed out hundreds of posts since last night. I guess that's the price Kentucky pays for being king of the mountain. All the grubby little trolls have to have their moment any time there is a hiccup.
That said, I have been warning of this outcome for a couple weeks on this board: It was that obvious. 1. A young team in its first true road game (Cal's teams now 2-5 in those games, with one win by last year's relatively veteran team, and the other over a 9 win Indiana squad) 2. A bunch of players made overconfident by an unwarranted No. 1 ranking. 3. Playing a team that had been humiliated last year on their home court. 4. Traveling to the west coast to play that first road game.
If I'd known Ulis was going to be half himself, Lee would get knocked out in the first few minutes and the referees would be Sam Gilbert's bastard children I'd have guaranteed a loss.
To people who have been realistic -- those of us who have seen this as a 6-8 loss team most comparable to 2011 and maybe 2014 -- this game is nothing to worry about. The team is about where we expected. The promise of the team may be a bit more than I thought -- Briscoe is better, and when Ulis is healthy he's better than I hoped.
To those of you who bought into the nonsense that this was a team as good as, or better, than last year, well, now you know. Adjust for reality and prepare for an entertaining March and maybe April.
