Batting order specifically...

Is it time to let Heyer rake from the 3 spot, move Collett up to 4, Cottam 5, Becker 6....slide Pompey into 2 hole when he returns?

Or do you not touch it at all??

No matter what you keep Collett and Heyer together. Right now they are probably both seeing better pitches because they are both so dangerous. I wouldn't mind seeing Aklinski hit 1 and Becker 2 with Pompey 3. That would make 3 through 5 a murderers row. I'd almost be willing to hit Squires 9th and use him as a second leadoff. I don't mind him hitting first because he gets on base, but I really don't think he's an ideal leadoff hitter. Oddly, that's basically our one weakness.

Aklinski would seem to be somewhat an ideal lead off canidate, what with his speed. He also is a line drive hitter with decent power, especially to the gaps.

His problem for Mingione is that he doesn't walk enough. Not a high enough OBP. I can understand that and with our hitting we don't really have to have the ideal leadoff guy. Just need someone to help keep pressure on by getting on base and Squires does that.

I like
1 Aklinski
2 Pompey
3 Heyer
4 Collett
5 Cottam
6 Johnson
7 Becker
8 Squires
9 Dawson

Pretty good lineup. I wouldn't be mad at it.

Here's my crazy slow pitch softball lineup idea:

1. Aklinski
2. Pompey
3. Heyer
4. Collett
5. Squires (kind of a second lead off)
6. Johnson
7. Becker
8. Cottam
9. Dawson

Something like that. You could kind of interchange Becker, Johnson and Cottam. Not really traditional, but it could make for some fun.

I like the kind of ABs that Squires gives you leading off. He's typically deep in the count, and he's willing to "wear one" for the team. I like the idea of having Pompey in the 2 hole.

I did notice that in Houston...saw plenty of pitches and ultimately drew the walk in the AB I was able to stream all the way through. lol

Since UK is big on I guess what I would call information gathering in the first ABs vs a pitcher, he brings a lot of value to having an early ab.

I just know I like the idea of Pompey, Heyer, Collett, Cottom 2-5
