Levis consulted re: OC position - should we infer anything from that?

Stoops specifically stated that he wanted and received WL's input as to the next OC. I have absolutely no problem with that. But, Levis will only be here one more year and, presumably, Scangarello will be here longer than that. Should we infer anything from the fact that Stoops DIDN'T ask for Allen and/or Sheron for their input? Was Stoops thinking that the system wouldn't change that much and Allen, Sheron, et al will have plenty of time to adjust to whatever changes are made while Will is being counted on to do great things this year? Or, are Allen & co. maybe not in the long-term plans as portal and incoming players may supplant them in the pecking order? Or the absence of their input means nothing (although Stoops has stated several times that he sought out Levis' buy-in)?

Again, I like Scangarello's resume and keeping the system very similar. I like that Levis was listened to and had some input. Just wondering if Stoops asked the other QBs or didn't feel he needed to or their input wasn't relevant. Probably overthinking it.

Because he was our starter and will be our starter this season. Would you rather them not consult with our starter and instead consult with potential starters for next season? I'm sure that whoever the next QB is after Levis will not be frustrated that they didn't consult with him on the new hire. You have an offense in place and will continue that type of offense beyond Levis.

You are overthinking it. Consulted, Will didn't have a vote yes or no.

And he was consulted but not the others because he is a college graduate, more importantly won the starting job & started 13 games last yr & is undisputed starter 2022. And the other 2 haven't done those things.

If you listened to the MJ interview just after Scan was hired, he said Levis "listened in on the process", not that he had any input that would sway a hiring decision.

Just from what I gathered from Stoop's explanation of the process this time. When he hired Coen, he neither asked for, nor received any help with hiring Coen. He knew what he wanted with his new Offense. This time, he asked and consulted with others to make sure he was getting continuity with the system that was put in place last year. Will being the starter last year and spending a lot of time with Coen, he could help recognize some of that continuity.

Makes sense. Will, of course, didn't have yes/no input but, from what I gathered, he at least had Stoops ask for/listen to his feedback. My guess is if Will was dead set against Scangarello, Stoops may have had some reservations although he'd still hire who he wanted. With the other QBs having at least an additional year to learn the new tweaks, probably wasn't nearly as important to get some feedback from them, especially since the system is essentially remaining the same. Definitely overthought it.

I think it’s just why am I asking the 2nd and 3rd string QB for input? That would strike me as odd tbh lol what have they done to earn that?

If you listened to CMS he told us why. Liam Coen recruited Will Levis and committed to staying at UK the two years Will would be here to help him develop into an NFL QB.

That was THE deciding factor in Will coming to UK, AND Will coming back another year. If anyone got a raw deal in Liam leaving after 1 year, it was Will Levis.

So, it was really the only thing CMS could do as a sort of consolation for Will to allow him to have input and bless off on the next OC.

Can you imagine what kind of predicament Will would be in if CMS went back to a Gran style OC?

Would have totally screwed over Will's chances to improve his draft status. Now, you can at least expect buy- in from WL with the new OC because he was allowed to participate in the process.

Great leadership by CMS.

I don't think Stoops was after that type of technical analysis from Levis. What he was searching for is just the overall impression and opinion from the player's perspective, of the man he was interviewing. Wanted to know how a player might feel about his demeanor, coaching techniques and background etc. I think having one player involved in the hiring of every coach would be a positive. It not only helps the head coach with his decision but it builds player "buy-in".

Will Levis could be a RD1 pick next year. Not kidding. If he is on-board and he succeeds, it TOTALLY changes the way the QB position is viewed at Kentucky. The Cats haven't had a good QB prospect since Tim Couch. Being able to show you can produce a QB in the mix to be an NFL RD1 pick and run an offense that fits what the current NFL teams are doing is huge for recruiting. And not just recruiting high school players, but the transfer portal. Good QB's move around all the time when a starting job isn't available where they are.

Yeah...it means he's the best QB CMS and UK have seen in a while...that CMS knows Levis could really be something special next year and doesn't want to risk screwing with the potential by hiring some dipshit OC that doesn't work well with the offensive personnel
