P Pat played like we all wanted him to, and what we've been told he was capable of doing, but let's give our defense some credit; they came up huge today.

Best defense in, at least, the last 19 years. PPG is only 20.5, previous best was 21.5 in 2008. Average has been 28.7 PPG prior to this year.

Another point ... we've given up 24 points in the last 2 SEC games (granted they're arguably the worst offenses in the SEC), but they are SEC. Also, we've given up 10 points in the last 6 quarters. Not sure when the last time that has happened.

My bad ... 27 points.

I looked it up, we gave up 15 in back-to-back games against USC and LSU in 1999. Both wins.
In 2005, we gave up 13 to Ole Miss (lost) and 7 to MSU (win).
A few times in 2008. First 4 games we only gave up 22 points! (all OOC)
A couple times in 2009, once in 2011 and once in 2013.

I guess it's not as uncommon as I thought ... gawsh our D sucks!

I love the progress our defense has made this season. The future looks really bright on that side of the ball, and that's the first time I have been able to make that statement since I've been alive! lol

Love the way the defense is not breaking (even though they tend to bend). Watching us try to defend a mobile QB and watching us give up 3rd and long drives me nuts, but gotta give them credit so far this year. Giving up less than 20 points to an SEC team two games in a row is excellent.
