Legacy: Jamal Mashburn Jr.

For his sake, I'd hope he goes anywhere but here.

It's a slim chance he'd produce at the level his dad did (thus would be considered a failure), not to mention all the comparisons between himself and his father would be tiresome.

Mashburn would push/influence him to Pitino before he would UK.

I'm not so sure I believe that. I think it's possible, but no where near a definite. But also Pitino would be 68 before he got to campus. I don't think he'll still be coaching.

Lastly, do we even know if Jamal Jr is the son of "our" Monster Mash, or just some other dude with the same name?

He's our Jamal's son.

Well, based on the what I see about Jamal Sr. on wikipedia, he has done pretty well for himself since retirement from the NBA, so he doesn't have a financial need. Let's hope that uavel has a new coach by then and maybe he can come to UK. Even if he isn't good enough to start at UK, it would be cool to follow in Dad's footsteps.

Mashburn is my favorite as well. Would root for his son where ever he went. I think Mash would let him make his own decision. Saying that if Rick is still coaching, I would not be surprised if he ended up there.

Maybe he can grow 8 inches in the next 3 years and become MonsterMash 2.0

If I had to guess, I'd say Louisville would have a pretty serious edge.

Pitino and Mashburn are not only tight -- they own about half the state together via their various joint ventures. Mashburn is also a huge Papa John's franchisee.

Mash has done well for himself outside of basketball.
