Leary and our receivers have not been good

It’s game 5. Something has to change. I don’t know if Stoops should take over as receivers coach or someone else as QB coach but these BASIC mistakes have happened every game and we’re 5 games in. Leary missed wide open Dame Key for a TD o could complete 10 out of 10 times then Brown drops an easy TD. It’d be different if this was new. It’s every game every drive. Something has to change. This can not continue or it’s negligence. We have to try something different. A different approach, different coaching or different players. Something has to change.

16- Zip. I'm having a great time. I'm an idiot because I'm enjoying the game that we're dominating instead of starting threads during the game that are critical? Wow, look in the mirror my friend as far as you're accusation of an "idiot".
Where did I say I wasn’t enjoying it? And you’re the one who’s mad. I’m pointing out facts. And you’re an idiot is a fact.

Have to agree. Davis, both lines, and D are AWESOME today. We have 23 points despite Leary. The guy just isn’t very good.

Still a ways to go...

Brown has dropped 3

Leary has missed several, but he did make that great side-arm throw to Davis for the TD...

Missed, wide-open sack allowed for a completely new game...

FOCUS, FOCUS.... Let's go!

I think it's okay to be critical of this piss-poor offensive passing attack while enjoying the beat down.

If beating Florida is all you care about than congrats.... ultimately though if a Stoops team ever takes that next step we need both the offense and defense to play well in a season.

How about that scoreboard tho

Georgia looks beatable...
Going to need a complete game, especially on offense. Don’t think we’re going to gut the Dawgs on the ground so our guys in the passing game need a come to Jesus moment and figure it out. Defense should be fine though, looking better every game.

Leary, receivers, passing game was not good today. I'm glad they had a bad game when we had a huge win and it didn't matter today. I believe in Leary, Brown, Key, Robinson, ABS, and the TEs as well as Coen - if anybody wants to spend their time right now dwelling on this, then have at it and you do you - I am betting big that the guys in the passing game get it sorted out.

Great job on this thread earlier BlueCephus! Btw: best avatar and handle......EVER!!!!

Leary was a damn fine QB before he got injured. But he just isn't the same now. Maybe he can get his mojo back. Maybe he never will. It is just hard to say how these things will work out. But I hate to see people hating on Leary and saying he sucks. If we had the same Leary that played for NC State, we'd have the best QB to play at UK since Andre Woodson. It is a shame the injury has seriously hampered Leary's accuracy.

This is where I'm at. He still shows flashes of what he was. So it seems more mental than physical. Maybe he just needs one good series to build confidence. I could see being a huge underdog against the #1 team being the type of thing that could break that "block" of the injury. I watched some of his games at State. He is a very good qb. People saying he sucks haven't watched him at State.

Give him the 4 or 5 drops the wr's made each game this year and his stats look decent. Then add on the confidence he gets by dudes not dropping catchable balls....

We aren't where we want to be for a passing attack but we at least have a path to success. Stop the drops and clean up 2 throws per game by Leary and we are avg'ing 300 ypg going forward. Stoops isn't going to let them sling it around until we get consistent soooo...

100% agree, happy to beat UF. But, if we want to rack up wins in the SEC we need a passing game. Something isn’t right with ours. Leary has too many errant passes and the ones where he’s on target, the WR drops it.

No argument from me, but we don't have that Leary. Regardless of what he was, he needs to produce. Right now QB and WR play is killing this team. With consistent QB and WR play we literally are as good as anyone in the SEC. I never thought I would ever type that, but every team in the SEC is beatable this year.

I agree with 90% of what you said here. And I did not watch him play at State so I'll give the benefit of the doubt and say you're correct. The problem as I see it is two fold; 1. He misses some throws really really badly. These throws give his receivers absolutely no chance to make a play. sometimes guys make amazing catches and the QB gets credit for those. He misses so badly that's not possible. Also, when you miss that badly the opportunity for picks and especially pick 6's are astronomically high. It almost happened against Florida. If that happens, it's a different game and a game where UK played its best, the Qb can give away with one throw. 2. As you said, we have to limit the drops. Drops happen with every team every week so let's not act like we should or are going to catch every ball. Even Justin Jefferson drops passes. That said 4-6 a week is double what it should be, at least. If Leary stops the awful misses and we cut drops to 1 at most 2 a game, I agree with you, Sky is the limit.
